Re: What do you think the Pens will do with Jake by the trade deadline
Sounds like a lot of Guentzel to Rangers rumors are exploding in the last 30 minutes. 1st and Kaapo Kakko as the return the prevailing sentiment.
If that ends up being the trade, it will certain go down in the "Well, Dubas had to get something rather than just letting him walk."
Dubas really needs to push for Perrault or Othmann if he's going to the Rangers. Kakko played all 82 games last year, with only 18 goals and 40 points. He is currently in the "not going to ever live up to #2 overall draft status" category.

that the Penguins and Rangers Jake Guentzel trade talks have "intensified".
NY's 1st round pick AND Kaapo Kakko could BOTH be in the deal.
Kakko is 23 and scored 40 pts last season. Former #2 overall pick.
doesn't say that is the offer or deal. There could be more in the deal. At this point there is a lot of speculation, reading too much into anyone report isn't a great idea. Let it play out then judge.

Agree. In the beginning it seems like Dubas wanted a roster player + prospect + 1st round pick. Hopefully he sticks to his guns and gets one of Perreault or Othmann in the deal.yinzer69 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:16 pmReport: David Pagnotta NHL Network insider says on @937thefanFLPensFan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:02 pm Sounds like a lot of Guentzel to Rangers rumors are exploding in the last 30 minutes. 1st and Kaapo Kakko as the return the prevailing sentiment.

Kakko is not very good. The fact that they want him gone says a lot.

Why is it every update on a pending trade is worse than the previous update?

Hard to come up with one.... The yinzer fans are weird...."We" are likely one of the only fanbases that wanted GMJR's head on a platter after winning back to back cups just because he missed on a few transactions.

Re: What do you think the Pens will do with Jake by the trade deadline
Just a thought, what is everyone's opinion on the following moves and roster shake out:
Trade 1:
Pens Trade
Jake Guentzel
Rags Send
Kappo
1st 2024 Pick
Trade 2:
Pens Trade
Riley Smith (Retain $2M)
Vegas Send:
Brenden Brisson
Trade 3:
Pens Trade
Nedjelokivc to Devils for 3rd 2024 pick
Trade 4:
Pens Trade
Ryan Graves + Devils 3rd
Ottawa Send:
Jacob Chychurn
May need to add to the 2nd and 3rd trades but just spit balling here.
Our lineup would look like this:
Brisson - Sid - Raks
Kappo - Geno - Pusty
Rust - Eller - Puljarvi
Carter - Acari - Emil
DP:
Petersson - EK
Chychurn - Letang
POJ - Ruwedel
Goalie:
Jarry and Hellberg.
I am just convinced that Dubas won't completely sell off the team but instead try to move expensive guys like Jake and Riley for younger talent. I also think Dubas is trying to go into free agency with as much money as possible. One thing I like about Kakko is he is a RFA so we own his rights after season.

No way Ottawa is accepting that trade for Chychrun. I don't see a top 6 player in Kakko or Brisson right now. Carter doesn't play LW at all.Pensfan4life8771 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:58 pm Just a thought, what is everyone's opinion on the following moves and roster shake out:

No trade to NYR. Ur giving up a 40 goal scorer for a player with 40 points and is not really impressive. The first rounder could be 32 pick. No thanks.

Better not be a Jake for Beech, Sivek and Lupsachuk type trade.

What do you think Dubas approach is for the deadline and an extension from tomorrow, his summer plans?

Re: What do you think the Pens will do with Jake by the trade deadline
If we believe the rumors that KD asked for Hoglander and Lekkerimi from Van, then a similar return from the Rangers would be Kakko and Perreault/Othmann. KD has said he prefers prospects to picks, so I don't think the 1st round pick will be the 2nd piece in a trade.
Hoping if it's the Rangers we could get Kakko and one of their top 2 prospects. Way too soon to give up on Kakko. But I would want another solid piece, plus a 1st for Jake.

Starting to hear the price might be too rich for Florida, and while Vancouver reengaged, likely too rich for them, too. So, 3 team race? #dramaaaa

Jake Guentzel trade discussions are intensifying. While the #LetsGoPens keep working at it, I'm told it's "getting close." At this hour, the Rangers, Golden Knights, Canucks, Panthers & Hurricanes are still in the mix, per source.
