I would've laughed so hard if Carter scored with that funny little lob shot

After squandering this lead it would stand to reason that playing sound defense in their end would be s good idea to preserve this game.

I'm so old and I can remember when teams never pulled their goaltender until 1:00 or less was left in the game.

Never even close. And the fact we had two goalies in one season in the NHL and AHL was also a first let alone in the same month.Zalapski33 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 9:41 pm Thought Ned had the ENG,bet no NHL Team had both Goalies score in the same season.

Winning this after blowing the 3-0 lead was good fortune,Sid got the bounce to get the much needed winning goal
Puustinen was excellent, his play makes a difference on the PP and 5 on 5.Keep him where he is.
Smith had a strong early game IMHO.He was active and made an effort to get to the net .
Graves and specifically Letang were not good.Continued bad decisions from 58 and Graves is a liability.Changing pairs didn't help.
Ned found a way to get this Win,hung in there late.Thought he was hung out to dry by awful zone coverage on a couple of the goals.
The PP looks better with Puustinen and made a difference.A decent early effort and carried the play until the Penalty fest took over.Way too many defensive breakdowns and poor decisions allowed this to become a closer game than it should have been.
Rakell is still in a nightmare and some disappointing play from Zohorna.Good to get this victory after the debacle in Toronto on Saturday.Hope Rust can get back in this lineup soon.and agree with DelPen about getting Sam Poulin up here at some point. The bottom 6 is still a weakness.

Rust can’t come back until Jan 2 I think due to needing LTIR space to have Chad and Rakell get back in the lineup.

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Wild 12/18/23
Uh.. I don't think Rust needed to be on LTIR for cap reasons.
Gruden, Johnston were sent down, Shea is on waivers. Count Nieto as the 13F (is on regular IR) and waive Harkins. With 7D, I think everybody fits? Unless cap hits changed since the start of the season.
But if Rust is going to be out for a month, just get the cap space to move pieces around.

I'm really happy for Puustinen,it was damn time he got chance up here.. god damn stubborn coach
I hope Poulin is next after he gets in shape.. Zohorna or Harkins waived, sent down..

Puustinen has as many points as Rakell in 1/3 less games! Keep him.

Re: Official GDT: Pens vs Wild 12/18/23
I said it in a previous thread and I'll say it in this one as well: not a pretty win, and not a real reason to get hopes up for the playoffs, but...a functioning power play was the difference in this game. We won 4-3 with two power play goals. A few weeks ago we lose this game 3-2, and I can't help but think what the team's record would be if we didn't go on that 0-37 or whatever stretch.
