Re: Let's talk about music

Post by tifosi77 »

Reading the letter leads me to believe that if I were Roger Taylor I'd probably have at least one assault conviction on my record.

"...I'm somewhat mystified about what it is that makes this group so popular."

"Pretty ridiculous, in this day and age."

"Indeed, Queen may be the first truly fascist rock band. The whole thing makes me wonder why anyone would indulge these creeps and their polluting ideas."

"...four of the seven albums reviewed were awarded two stars, a designation that means 'records that are artistically insubstantial, though not truly wretched.'"

"...miserable..."

Reading that about Queen - motherfcking Queen! - makes me embarrassed to have ever been a subscriber.

I got to the part where the guy said there was a 30-second delay in the sound; roughly speaking, that would mean he was about 6 miles away from the stage. Clearly he was exaggerating for effect, but my eyes glaze when someone goes that far into hyperbole. It's lazy and unimaginative. And he was talking about their sound check, for cryin' out loud. They also state his given name as Frederick, which is false. (But that may have been what the writer was told)

Spoiler:
I have a buddy I used to skate with who was on GNRs management team at the time of the Freddie tribute show. The way it was set up, there were going to be a few bands performing their own songs, then members of those bands would play Queen songs with the surviving members of Queen later in the show, along with some other guest artists. But it was made clear to everyone that the early part of the show (with the exception of Def Leppard) not include any Queen songs; that would be reserved for the evening portion.

Then this happened. (Pay attention to the intro by Brian May)

They were the second act of the show.

My buddy said it was the unquestioned highlight of the early part of the show (and most of the commentary I've read from those who were there seem to agree), but he forever hated Extreme after that. Apparently, Axl went on a rampage and threatened to walk out of the show, and it was his job to wrangle him. James Hetfield had to be physically restrained from attacking them after the set.

Any of you guys check out Queen's latest release, Live At The Rainbow 74? It's beyond magnificent hearing some of those older tunes from around the time they came out. Everything about it is superb except the fact that even though it was released on Bluray, the footage isn't in HD, just sharpened up a bit.

Marilyn Manson: too many evils to mention here, blasphemy, ties to Church of Satan, mocks God, rebellion.  Manson tears up Bibles in concert and leads the audience to praise Satan

White Zombie: Anti-Christian imagery, Singer looks like a Zombie (Not a good role model for impressionable children

Beatles: promote Communism in "Back in the USSR," sexually degenerate lyrics... "Why don't we do it in the road (1968)," rebellion, fornication, false religion (Catholicism and Eastern Mysticism).  Lennon called Jesus a 'garlic eating fascist bastard.'  Paul McCartney is an admitted atheist.  'Sgt. Peppers' album cover has Aleister Crowley's face on it

It makes me laugh

Eagles: 'Hotel California' is a tribute to the Church of Satan, proven by COS founder Anton LaVey's picture inside the album cover.

I think Black Flag deserved stronger condemnation for that nun album cover.

If one of you was thinking, "Wow that Weakling band should have been more popular!", well, I would agree with you.

This is sincerely one of the beautiful and haunting rock songs I've ever heard. Martin Lopez of Opeth on drums and Steve DiGiorgio of Testament/Sadus/Death on bass, but it's not metal. Some random guy at singer who has a hell of a voice.

I saw two of the guys from There You Are this weekend at Altar Bar. I thought they were pretty solid as far as local bands go. Has anyone ever seen the full compliment of the band anywhere?

40 years ago today, one of the greatest albums of all time was released.

And as if that didn't make me feel old enough, looking back an equal 40 years before its release the hot new hit was On The Good Ship Lollipop by Shirley Temple.

1975 was a great year for music. Blood on the Tracks, Horses, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Siren, Fleetwood Mac, Another Green World, Katy Lied, Radioaktivität, etc.

Speaking of great music...... if you take two things I hate and mash them up, it's kind of funny.

Thats not nearly as good as this:

Cure (The): alcohol abuse, blasphemy in "The Blood" and "Holy Hour", Satanic imagery in artwork

Smiths: Satanic imagery <---wat?
