Spiritualized is going to record with Martin Glover, aka Youth of Killing Joke fame. Weird.

25 year old bootleg of Nirvana playing a show with a Melvins drummer. Yes kids...Dave Grohl wasnt always the drummer.

Metallica Fans Re-Record 'St. Anger’ Album
“Recorded from the ground up, the album has been shortened by 16 minutes, yet every riff and lyric is intact, resulting in a more concise and focused record.

“The production is also more conventional, and we hope Metallica fans appreciate this new version of an album that is always looked at as an anomaly in the incredible career of the world’s biggest metal band, Metallica.”

I like what they're trying to do, but St. Anger just seems to be a pathetically written album in general.

Yeah, the problems with that record were not production or performance related.

That said, I'm curious to see what the reaction is from MetallicA, cos they are basically being one upped here. They could easily have the clip taken down (copyright infringement).

I think it sounds worlds better. I prefer James' voice but everything else is awesome.

Disagree. The sound of the snare is enough for me to say it had it's share of production problems. Performance? Well, I'm a homer when it comes to MetallicA so that will never be a problem for me. :D :thumb:

The only production related issues I've ever really had with them was the chronic lack of low end on all their recordings, and the pervasive assy sound of 'Death Magnetic'.

That St Anger "re-do" is really really good.

I'd say besides PFIDC I'm probably the biggest Metallica fan on this board. They have always been my favorite band since my friend brought over a tape of Justice and I heard Blackened for the first time. (FC is a pretty big fan too i know)

St. Anger had lots of good ideas(Dirty Window, Sweet Amber, Unnamed Feeling, the riffs in My World, and I dig Shoot Me Again). There were some good riffs buried within the junk. Then you had the production, especially Lars deciding he wanted his drums to sound like trash cans. Over all though, you can only polish a turd so much. I mean no matter what you do Invisible Kid, Purify etc are going to be crap. That being said with how F'd up the band was at that time, the fact that the album ever even came out is pretty crazy. I'm sure most have seen the Some kind of Monster documentary, but if you haven't you can see why this album turned out so bad. The band was basically imploding from the inside.

I like the changes they did though in that "re-do" video, and to be honest the guy singing sounds better than James did on St. Anger. I'd never replace Hetfield, but his voice on that album was really bad.

Re: Death Magnetic.. that album was recorded way too loud(like most albums these days), so you lost alot of fidelity in it, but I thought overall it was a very good album. Now that we are 7 years(holy crap) since DM, I'm curious to see how the next album turns out.

Death Magnetic is a surprisingly underrated album. All Nightmare Long is my second favorite Metallica song (behind Master of Puppets naturally)

Also, if I use a capital a ("MetallicA") will I be considered a big Metallica fan too?

And yes FC is a big Metallica fan, but besides Frantic and the first 25 seconds of the song St Anger the album is garbage. Ive tried to find the good in this album, but its just meh. I really want to reach in and turn on Lars' snare drum and choke Bob Rock.

Ringo was and still is underated as a drummer but his technicality and the period he was drumming in his style is perfect. And fyi...I dig the Stones but Charlie Watts was awful.
