Really like them. Stumbled upon their album about a month ago, have listened to it a ton since then.

Tons of sound from two people. Kind of like a British DFA1979.

I don't think they are that much like QOTSA. But I like them a lot and recommend them.

The new Foo Fighters album is so good. Can't get it out of my head.

Also, the new Pumpkins record is really good. Nothing groundbreaking just quality songs.

It's getting largely mediocre reviews from critics, many of whom appear to have been exexpecting the Foos to deliver a collection genre music based on the city. As in the Foo Fighters doing a Dixieland jazz song, or a Chicago blues song. How awful would that have been?

Grohl give an interview last week about it, and it's clear priority one for the project was that they make a Foo Fighters record. (Exactly the opposite of what the nitwit critics are btching about.) Forget if they showed it on Highways , but he showed up at the studio in Nashville and everyone was wearing cowboy hats, and he sort of flipped out.... "Guys, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no."

but I thought at one point that's what he said he was going for, a style from each city that they visited/recorded in?

Seriously, how terrible would that kind of record have been?

Not a style from each city, but a Foo Fighters song gleaned from the experience of learning the history of each city.

That would have been a dreadful concept. It was bad enough that Joe Walsh played on a song. :pop:

Right, that's exactly how I took it as well. Maybe that's why I'm not disappointed with the results.

Gwen Stefani's new song in the Fiat commercials: I didn't think it was possible to make something worse than "Hollaback Girl", but it's pretty damn close.

I liked my Gwen when she was a ska punk front woman for a pre Tragic Kingdom No Doubt.

FKA Twigs - LP1

Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
Neneh Cherry -Blank Project
Real Estate - Atlas
Robert Plant - lullaby ...
Sharon van Etten - Are We There
Sleaford Mods - Divide an Exit
Smoke Fairies - Smoke Fairies
St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Sun Kil Moon - Benji
Swans - To Be Kind
Thurston Moore - The Best Day

If I had to nominate a Top 3 it'd probably be Real Estate, Sun Kil Moon and The War in Drugs.
Did you like the Angel Olsen album?

Screw Jethro Tull

I actually think they are super talented and I like their music but their 1989 Grammy win still pisses me off.

shouldn't it be screw grammy's then? Who cares if Metallica didn't win an award and Jethro Tull did, it's the Grammy's!
