As I've stated, I'm not actually a Foo Fighters fan, but the song for this episode was my favorite so far.
I was a little disappointed in the episode, as it had very little to do with Los Angeles at all. Just Pat Smear walking around the Westside and Hollywood, and the occasional shot of traffic. The place they decamped to is a 2 1/2 hour drive into the desert. Eff that noise.

That said, they've already done a documentary about recording a whole album in Grohl's Encino home. So I guess there's that.

Breath deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day's useless
Energy spent

Empassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

The drummer who played on this said he hates this song. They had finished a 10 hour day and JB dragged them off to the studio to record the track.

Brown had a awesome setup at King studios. He could record and mix a track and then immediately go next door and press the singles and they would be released in a matter of days.

That Fugazi video makes me want to **** my pants. DC Space was the definitely place to see them, largely because it was like watching a band play in your basement.

The Forum, which was a basement, was known as the best club in Germany, everyone played there. And it was only a half hour drive from where I live.

Yeah, I found this episode to be the least compelling so far, for me. The Kyuss/QOTSA desert rock stuff was interesting - how their sound came from trying to fill large, wide open spaces (i.e. the desert!) with noise. Those generator shows must have been really cool.

Foo's North American tour dates announced today. Not in L.A. until September. On a Monday.

Crap.

Oh well, the "beat the bots" in person pre-sale starts Saturday morning at 9 am at the venue boxoffice. I have to go over the hill, anyway. Might as well do that.

Nothing in Pittsburgh? C'mon Dave.

There is a gap after the New York and Boston shows in July '15. I'm wondering if later dates will be announced.

Their pre-sale starts this Saturday at 9 am. In person purchases at the venue, only, limits of 2 floor/4 seated tix. They call it 'beat the bots'. Far as I know, that's the only pre-sale.

This tour will be my third time seeing them, Mrs Tif's fourth. They're very good at rock.

I've seen them once at a free show at a Tower Records parking lot in Rockville, MD. It was the first live performance of Monkey Wrench. They (the promoters) handed out a bunch of sun screen packets to the crowd and, as rock crowds are want to do, we started throwing them (I was 17 or so...). I accidentally hit Grohl right in the face with mine and the kid in front of me got kicked out because of it. /csb

EDIT: I was 16

certainly some of my favorite foo fighter songs on there. I love bands that play their hits at concerts. That's what everyone is there to see, play them. I agree, pfidc. Would love to hear that cover.
