Here is your metal album of the year. These guys just continue to push boundaries and switch things up and it just about always works. No subgenre tags needed for this one.

Re: Let's talk about music
I like the opening riff to "Aesthetics of Hate"... that's about all I can say regarding Machine Head (aside from the fact they share a name with a Deep Purple album and Bush song).

This may be a top 5 MH track for me, even though it's off their last album. The intro and riffing are utterly absurd.

Was watching videos on xfinity on demand and saw this video, im surprised Kittie never hit it big. And the singer Fallon looks really good in this video. ;)

always liked their sound but never got into them for whatever reason.
I had this song on my phone for the longest time. Might have to re-add it tonight.

Re: Let's talk about music
That's another highlight of their pretty glorious career. Pittsburgh at Rex Theatre was the witness to the first live attempt at that, and honestly Robb was so distressed by how complicated the guitar work was, he missed half the vocals. Still pretty cool to witness though.JS© wrote:always liked their sound but never got into them for whatever reason.

Police withdrew the charge laid against Mr Rudd this afternoon, less than 24 hours after it was laid following a raid on the star's house.

ran across this in a Cracked article, originally written a few years ago but showed up in one of the margins tonight.

the rest of the album is just weird.Alex Henderson of AllMusic described the track "Caledonia" as sounding "like it could be a Ministry or Revolting ****s recording from 1989 rather than a psychedelic recording from 1969."
Another critic, describing the album, said “Now, when you stick the needle into the groove that is opener, "Caledonia", you'll immediately think you're listening to Einstürzende Neubauten gone black metal, then you'll realize you're WRONG and that there was no reference points such as that available in 1968.

Re: Let's talk about music
Missed the Machinehead discussion above, but yeah they kick all sorts of ass. Halo is one of the best metal songs ever.
Here is an awesome live version of it. The dueling stuff at the end with Rob and the other guitar player rules. I also wish I had Rob's I <3 Thrash shirt.

I was on an Exodus kick today and found this on youtube. If the riff at 1:03 does nothing for you ... you have no soul.

I always said I was born like 5-10 years too late(I'm 31). I feel like I really missed the heyday of when all the awesome thrash bands like Exodus, Anthrax, Testament, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc were all in their absolute prime.
