It's just so dumb. Huge chance I'm moving out of state, would've been nice to not have this extra thing hanging out there.
This is the plate, and keep in mind it's lit full time by two white lights:

Elon Musk reveals the new Tesla Model S 'D' (dual drive; one motor for each pair of wheels).

Their performance benchmark for acceleration? The vaunted McLaren F1 -- 3.2 sec 0-60. Barring anything in the works that I'm not aware of, the 85kW model will be the quickest 4-door car in the world. Musk described the car as 'bananas', and the max power setting for the car is actually going to be labeled 'Insane' in the menu.
Oh, and it can drive itself. So there's that.

Re: Car thread
Over the last two weeks my car's battery has required a jump three times. Im pretty sure I'm not leaving any lights on or anything so I'm assuming its draining itself. Do I need new alternator, battery, car, or something else?

And how old is the battery? They don't last forever.
A lot of auto-parts stores will do free battery tests. Of course, they have an incentive to tell you it's bad, but the test is free.

Re: Car thread
If it was the alternator the car wouldn't run very long. It's most likely the battery.

When the alternator started to go out on my Mustang, all the lights would dim when I floored it. Never had any issues aside from that.

Not sure, but I've owned the car for 3 years now, so at least that long.Shyster wrote:And how old is the battery? They don't last forever.

Also the AAA guy said it was probably the battery, not the alternator. I have no idea how to tell which it is without a voltmeter. The car jumps fine and runs until I turn it off (drove it for a half an hour today with headlights and radio on) and also starts back up if I turn it off and start it a minute later.

Go to advance auto, they will bench test it for free (both battery and alternator)

Dual mass flywheel is going out on my 2011 TDI with 94k miles. They surely don't make cars like they used to. These cars used to be solid for 3-400k.

Thinking of trading in my 2011 Jeep Patriot for either a 2015 Chevy Colorado or a 2015 Chevy Equinox... Anyone have any experience with either vehicles? Also, has anyone heard of the new Chevy SUV coming out next year called the Trax?

Infiniti's SUVs are hideous. They look like rinoceroses.
On the upside they are often driven by a reasonably hot mom.

I think that if the Chevy HHR or the Chrysler PT Cruiser were larger and marketed as minivans, they would have sold very well. I'm not sure why they were marketed as compacts.

Wasn't the PT Crusier a different shell on a Dodge Neon? And WK is correct on the HHR, very weak power for the price.

Re: Car thread
Has anyone ever replaced the seat in their car? My drivers seat is broken: The padding in the lumbar/kidney bolster area has come off the frame, and now the side support of the structure of the seat itself digs into my back right at the bottom of my ribcage on the left. Taking right handers at any sort of speed is now physically uncomfortable, and I'm developing a back problem as a result. This problem has been going on for months, gradually getting worse. Is a replacement seat a junkyard type of thing? Should I contact a dealer?

Re: Car thread
Seats are usually easy. Four bolts and a pig tail if the seat has electric components.
The thing to look out for is if they have any airbag components, but I'm not sure an '01 Celica would have that.
Hard part will be finding the right color.
The fun thing to do would be to put in a racing style seat, but one that still reclines. It'll be manual operation and no good for actual racing, but it'll be "custom", and feel better on your back.
