I'm working on a low tempo 2 part acoustic cover of Solsbury Hill. This song has so many intricacies it's incredible. It seems so simple on the surface. What a song writer....

In a fit of musical bipolarism, I saw Phish in Charlotte last night and am heading to Carrboro at the moment for Merge's 25th anniversary party. Neutral Milk Hotel, Caribou, Bob Mould, Teenage Fanclub, Mikal Cronin, Ex Hex and the Love Language.

Call Lars crappy all you want but without him the band isn't still around today. He is the brains behind the operation.

He and Hetfield are not replaceable. Without either of them metallica would cease to exist.

They haven't been here since 04 Sadly. I had backstage passes at that show.

Before that was 98 at starlake and 96 at the arena.(load and reload tours). 96 was my first concert ever at the age of 13 lol.

Would have killed to see them on the puppets or justice tour but I was 3 and 5 at the time haha.

They tour more outside the US recently. Big festivals over in Europe. The closest they have come to Pittsburgh was Columbus I think one one of the summer sanitarium tours.

I don't think They hit here on the death magnetic tour.

I'd bang my head like no other as a 5 year to blackened in 1988.

The Seattle show from live **** is their best live performance ever imo.

Detroit 1999 was amazing but I think Mexico City beats the Seattle show.

Not that I don't like the black album and beyond Metallica, but the setlist at the Seattle show in 89 is perfect. No Sandman to worry about playing to appease the masses, and Metallica arguable at their live musical peak. Everyone is tight(even Lars), James's voice isn't blown out yet, and the energy is just out of this world. I miss the tone of the guitars back then too, and how lars drums were tuned. It's musical perfection to me haha.
