Heater-Getz-Perry = slowest first line in the league?
The Ducks love to rotate guys on their lines...I wonder how many Heater gets with the glimmer twins...

I would have only thought a team that needed PP help would bring him in as a guy to just stand there and shoot. Do they really need that guy?

Who cares at $1 million? Ducks aren't a cap team anyway so they can bury him in the press box if worst comes to worst.Idoit40fans wrote:I would have only thought a team that needed PP help would bring him in as a guy to just stand there and shoot. Do they really need that guy?

The Ducks don't really need much of anything to be honest...they have a pretty good team. Maybe a little more sure-handed third pairing guy to help Sami Vatanen grow...

If I were them i'd want to be adding depth forwards or skill guys on the correct side of 28.

Depth forwards with skill? They have a plethora of those. Currently they could look at a producing fourth line.Idoit40fans wrote:If I were them i'd want to be adding depth forwards or skill guys on the correct side of 28.
Look at this as an example:
Silfverberg – Getzlaf – Perry
Heatley – Kesler - Smith-Pelly
Belesky– Cogliano – Palmieri
Etem – Thompson – Maroon
Rakell

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Their forward depth is not what their defense or goaltending depth is. If it were me, I'd be adding guys that I can plug in if forwards get hurt. They already have 8 or 9 defensemen they can use right now and 3 goalies. Saying they have "a producing fourth line" is an argument that they need bottom line guys, not an argument that they are set.André wrote:Depth forward? They have a plethora of those. My biggest question mark regarding the Ducks is in net. I know Gibson is a top-shelf prospect and they're real high on Andersen too, but it is wise to go into the season with 31 games of NHL experience between your goalies?mikey287 wrote:The Ducks don't really need much of anything to be honest...they have a pretty good team. Ducks are set in net. Gibson and Anderson might be the best tandem in the league.

If Ward is healthy, I'd take him and Khudobin any day.

I honestly don't know where Ward's game is at anymore. It seems like he has been hurt so much that he can't get into a rhythm the last few seasons.

I think I'll go with Lunqvist and Talbot. Mostly because of Lundqvist, though.meow wrote:Ducks are set in net. Gibson and Anderson might be the best tandem in the league.

Lundquist and Talbot aren't a tandem, though. Without looking, I can't picture Talbot starting more than 18 games last season.

I really was hoping that Schneider would test the market next summer. Him @ 6M > Fleury @ 5M

Steve Ott resigned with STL, 2 years 2.6M per season.

I wouldn't feel comfortable locking up any goalie for that length though.thehockeyguru wrote:I really was hoping that Schneider would test the market next summer. Him @ 6M > Fleury @ 5M

Not that there was a real danger of them getting him, but glad Ott is gone...and to a team that I never care to watch.

Talbot started 21 games and was very good with a .941 save% and 1.64 GAA.meow wrote:Lundquist and Talbot aren't a tandem, though. Without looking, I can't picture Talbot starting more than 18 games last season.

Vlad Sobotka signed a 3 year deal in the KHL

That's a bigger loss than people realize. I like Sobotka's game.canaan wrote:Vlad Sobotka signed a 3 year deal in the KHL

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
The timing of the Ott deal makes sense. No question Ott is their silver or bronze medal here...Sobotka was leaps and bounds better than him down the stretch for St. Louis...
Sobotka gets $4 mil per year in the KHL, opt-out after each of the year of the deal to go back to the NHL...

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Really odd for Sobotka to leave. Just like it was odd for Armstrong to publicly state term/money amounts offered to Sobotka. Armstrong stated they offered him anywhere from 1-5 years term, north of 3M a year. Was going to the KHL really worth less than 1M extra a year?mikey287 wrote:The timing of the Ott deal makes sense. I blame Petr Svoboda....as it is rumored that Sobotka just hired him as his agent....after Sobotka left Svoboda in favor of Steve Bartlett a few months ago. Odd all around.
