They should have quit when KM left the band:

They became way too rock after the Damaged record.

I can't say that I've ever heard of the Alpine Arena in Wilkinsburg. I'm sure the Dolls scored before their set:

I can't find much on the arena, but it looks like they did a show with Mott The Hopple on that day. King Crimson/Foghat played there a few months earlier and Mountain played there next year

Genesis also played there on April 13, 1973

Around that same time, the Velvet Underground played a show in the arena.

It looks like it also might have done business as Alpine Ice Chalet

A teaser from the new King Crimson record:

I think it's a practice tape, to be honest.

Interesting stuff. Paul Axendader played hockey at the Alpine Arena:JS© wrote:I can't find much on the arena, but it looks like they did a show with Mott The Hopple on that day. King Crimson/Foghat played there a few months earlier and Mountain played there next year

Geezer would probably know about this place. Paging Geezer.

No plans for new record but who knows. That's from their first practice session for the upcoming tour. Not sure I like the 3 drummer setup.columbia wrote:A teaser from the new King Crimson record:

I heard Under Pressure on the way to work today and thought how awesome it would be to hear Hetfield and Anselmo do a version.

Id dig this, but id want the mid 90s Anselmo and Hetfield. I say that cause Anselmo's voice is kinda shot as is Hetfield's.PensFanInDC wrote:I heard Under Pressure on the way to work today and thought how awesome it would be to hear Hetfield and Anselmo do a version.

Agreed. I would think Anselmo would do the Freddie Mercury part and Hetfield would do Bowie.FreeCandy44 wrote:Id dig this, but id want the mid 90s Anselmo and Hetfield. Re: Let's talk about music
I had forgotten that Jimmy Page was readying remastered (and expanded) versions of the Led Zeppelin catalog. The first three albums dropped in June, and despite owning a couple of different editions of them, I repurchased them.
Needless to say, they sound really good, even in 320/MP3. The extras are instrumental backing tracks, live versions/concerts, and some new music.
I found these re-releases almost as good as the Beatles remasters in 2009.
Speaking of the Beatles, it will be 50 years since Hard Day's Night was released. Giles Martin, son of Sir George Martin, reworked the sound for its re-release: http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news ... n-20140703" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, listen to Randy Bachman deconstruct the most familiar opening chord in rock history:

Heres a link to the original 1983 show where Prince recorded the album version of Purple Rain, complete with commentary.

Neat mashup/hey look who ripped off Metallica, now I dig A7X and adore Metallica and all but A7X needs to admit they made a black album.
