Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Buffalo said they'd take a crappy deal for draft picks. I would definitely move a fourth and Scuds for nothing. I'd consider a third and scuds. How much is $3.5 million in cap space worth?

Benn-Seguin-Nuke
Ritchie-Spezza-Hemsky
If Ritchie can do off-wing or Hemsky can do off-wing (they are both RW), that's a whale of a top-six. Eakin is a terrific third line center. Now, they just need a defense that's not led by Alex Goligoski and they're in business...serious business...

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
A 1st probably. The Leafs bought a 4th round pick for $500K a few years ago. So, I have to imagine we'd be charged a 1st to do what's being proposed. Maybe we get lucky and it's only a 2nd, but after acquiring Gorgeous George there, I'm not sure they'll need Scuderi anyhow...TheHammer24 wrote:Buffalo said they'd take a crappy deal for draft picks. Capitals gave Orpik a five-year, $27.5 million deal. Wow.

Remember when hockey players were the class of the athletic world. Now they are catching up to the dbag level of everyone else.FallenHero96 wrote:Strong comments from Ryan Johansen in Columbus today:

let's be honest, hockey players are a good 15-20 years from presenting a quote like that using third person and involving their family and the players ability to feed them.mikey287 wrote:Yeah, they're not close...Jim wrote:Remember when hockey players were the class of the athletic world. I would have been okay with the Pens going with either of those.canaan wrote:Moulson 5 years, 25 million (w/ NTC) - Buffalo

Rightly or wrongly, I always think of Bobby Holik and Jeff Finger when I hear "worst contract in NHL history."Mr. Colby wrote:So is that orpik deal the worst contract in NHL history?

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
I wonder if when Engo's agent called him and said Calgary $2.9M for 3 years, Engo said "Just under a mil a year... that's cool. Thank's agent man!" They the agent was like, "No, no... it's $2.9M PER year..."

I kinda want to know what other teams were offering Engelland, if Calgary had to go 2.9 per year.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
The Engelland deal is nuts...I thought "Good for him" at $2.9 over 3 years, but PER year? Good grief.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Iggy for 3 yrs at 16mil is a lot worse than Orpik or even Engelland.
EDIT: Wait, scratch that.....Engelland's deal is pure insanity.

The Flames scouting staff did watch a few games when Engo was actually on the ice, right? Loved his toughness, but that is a lot of money for tough.

1 year, $2 million for Richards in Chicago. Good deal for the cash-strapped Hawks.
