I don't recall him being scratched a bunch, but perhaps. He did kind of give up late in the year and he became tough to notice (sans the turnovers). He's a career lazy, one-way player. So I figured the Coyotes knew what they were getting when they signed that deal. But I guess some buyer's remorse. For bookkeeping, this is not a compliance buyout of course, this is an ordinary course buyout with the usual cap penalties.
I'm a tiny bit surprised they couldn't move him and eat some salary...but hey, if it's not gonna work, it's not gonna work. I wouldn't know any better than Mr. Tippett and Mr. Maloney. Here's a case where a team picks its coach over its player(s). Unlike, I think we'll come to find, in Toronto. Where Carlyle stays, maybe at the cost of Reimer and Kadri, maybe Jake Gardiner...Grabovski already gone...
Blair Riley @Briles25
Good luck to all players going thru the NHL draft experience..I remember my draft year like yesterday..30 teams passed on me 7 times each

He's getting buried on the TSN message board for a whole host of issues:
repeatedly late for practice
missing dah bus
showing up hungover/drunk for practice
screaming match with HC Tippett, leading to him getting HS'd
When the GM comes out and says the buy-out was due to "behavioral issues," that says something. Obviously they would try to refer him to the NHL/NHLPA rehab program and he apparently wasn't inclined to do so. Same kind of incidents happened with Lupul in Philly, but he's apparently got it back together these days.
Apparently Maloney was asked a question about if he's concerned about not having a 1st line center now, and his response was along the lines of "let's be honest, we didn't have one for the last 40 games of the season anyways."
