That's why I do it as I go. It'll probably take me two years to earn the license and about that long to finish the car, and I'm building for the budget series. My reward for finishing the car? Have to buy a tow vehicle.

This was the big deal around my parts a few months ago. Some company vinyl wrapped this 650i a few months ago. It was popping up all over town and people kept posting pictures on FB of it.

So, is he a ****head for having a BMW or having a chromed car? With some folks it could go either way.

Not sure, someone posted that in the thread about this car in a BMW group (who must also be a member of MO horsepower group). People were posting pics of it all over town.

Personally, it's cool for probably 1 day. Then the chrome thing gets old.

Long story short though, if you can chrome vinyl wrap a car like that, I'm sure it'll work better for any other color

The E63/F12 cars are weird anyway. Never really seemed to attract a following. I like them but the sticker shock is just too much. I could restore my E24 M6 three times for the price of an F12. I was at a high end used car dealer last weekend and they had a few on the lot. Sexy cars but they just kind of fade into the landscape, and for that price it shouldn't.

Define "wrap"... I've never heard of this, seems like an easy way to mess with paint jobs. Easy to remove? Expensive? This is interesting

Cool 3M Promo video of a car being wrapped. Looks like they just stick the wrap on, hit it with a heating gun, and then trim the excess.

3M Car Wrap site, with the Vehicle Graphics page in the navbar on the left.

Informally on the internet I've seen quotes from $900 up to $6000, most falling around $2K with the cost of materials making up about half of that. I assume the lower end of the scale is single color vinyl. For a racing livery I *assume* the material cost is more.

Wraps last about 4-5 years and do not damage the paint, it actually preserves it. In my case, my car would get ran really hard for a few weekends a year and then stored indoors the rest of the time, so as long as I don't have any body damage I assume a wrap would last me a long while.

Ahh that's pretty cool, thanks. Didn't know if it was like plastidip, or how it would work on an entire car. Neat.

Always thought the 275 was a better - and better looking - car than the 250, particularly the NART Spider variant. It is one of only two Ferrari models (the other being the current 458) that I would actually get in red. If, you know, I could.

A lot of the appeal of the 250 comes from the racing provenance.

Speaking of which................

Took the beagles in for vet stuff this morning. Been going to this Dr for about a year and a half, and he's super cool. Ex-music industry guy, makes liberal use of profanity, has a love of European stuff...... my kind of guy. Found out one his besties is a guy called Steve Tillack. Google Steve Tillack + Redondo Beach.

Yeah.

Guy currently owns 15 Ferraris. And he drives them. A lot.

Dr Vet Guy showed me photos of their last excursion around the South Bay........ three (1-2-3) 250 GTOs, including a California; two (1-2) 275s, including a NART Spider; a 365 GTB; two 550s/575s (only saw the hoods); an F40; an Enzo; a variety of Formula One machines from the 70s, 80s and 90s; and a laundry list of other exotics (including a sweet-*** Lambo Miura). Mr Tillack owns a business that restores classic European sports/GT/racing cars, and another business where owners of said vehicles can securely store their wares.

I want 15 Ferraris............. :(

Tesla Model S..... as reviewed by The Oatmeal

There are some grown-up words in there, but this review is full of win.

And to cap it off, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has agreed to help fund the Tesla museum project.

They say since it's an R type that they'd assume AWD. If it was FWD...I dont think you'd be able to successfully pull out without melting rubber.
