Re: Let's talk about music
I'm probably going to check out the Old 97s show at Mr. Smalls coming up. I haven't listened to anything since that Roller Skate Skinny song though.

Mr Smalls is such a great venue. I like leaning against the rail that seperates the pit and the middle of the floor.

Re: Let's talk about music
I think I posted this guy's Katy Perry song in here before:

With the second one I minimized the screen and tried to write down what I think he's going for. It's a fun game if you don't have anything better to do.

Pitbull
End Fight Probability: There is a negative–90 percent chance Pitbull will knock you out.
Fight him. Fight Pitbull. Fight Pitbull every chance you get. And whenever you knock him on the ground, you shout, “Pitbull’s going down, I’m yelling ‘timber’” and then be like, “You see? You see how stupid that is?”

Judging by the show there last fall, that is definitely not a show that is tailor-made for a venue of that size. I felt like they even felt uncomfortable in that venue.

Not surprisingly, Arcade fire at consol was a dud.Kraftster wrote:Judging by the show there last fall, that is definitely not a show that is tailor-made for a venue of that size. I felt like they even felt uncomfortable in that venue.
The big shows (that aren't someone like justin bieber or bruce springstein) should be at stage AE.

Re: Let's talk about music
All of the Black Keys shows in my driving area (Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Greenville SC) are all in largish arenas like Consol. I guess the amphitheater shows are out in the late fall/early winter, but I think all of those except Atlanta will have sales issues.

Re: Let's talk about music
They could always cut CEC in half and make it a half house show. They used to do that at Mellon.

local dj act got a little writeup in rollingstone. one of the guys is a friend from high school. it's not my kind of thing, but a lot of those acts that rollingstone mentioned as an artist watch has gotten a lot of national publicity it seems.

Re: Let's talk about music
Pennywise played Altar Bar last year and just brought back Jim Lindberg. The brief time they had Zoli on vocals, they sounded closer to Offspring than Pennywise.
I originally had tickets to see Offspring during the Smash tour in the early 90s and ended up missing it when the ship I was attached to ended up going to see for sea trials.
Any p/w's for the early sale tomorrow would be much appreciated.
S/T to FC44 for letting me know about this via the twitters.
