Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Screw Canada. I'll root for Crosby and Kunitz in a week or so when the NHL is back, but as of right now they are the enemy. I hope they both fail miserably and Latvia takes them down.

Team USA is so easy to root for. "We're tough, fast, and plenty talented." And everyone knows their role. No divas.

Hopefully there's no Olympic hangover for Kunitz and Crosby. Might be the two least popular guys on planet earth right now just because 99.9% of Canadians hate them.

The meme is that goal didn't undo how badly he played prior to that.MarioLives wrote:Someone explain to me why Canada hates Crosby? I thought he was their golden child??

i don't think there's any deep hate. i think they just think he isn't good enough in international play.MarioLives wrote:Someone explain to me why Canada hates Crosby? I thought he was their golden child??

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Despite them not playing their best right now, Canada is the team to beat as the defending gold medalists. They have the deepest roster, and were the pre-tournament favorites.
I want the U.S. to play them. And beat them.
Imagine if some other team had eliminated the Soviets in 1980; winning the gold wouldn't have been as big a deal. You want to be regarded as legit? Take on the best and beat them.

He's not been dominant, but he's certainly been good enough.

Re: The Official Olympic Hockey Thread
It takes people a while to adjust playing on Crosby's wing. We've seen it here, newcomers adjust more easily to Malkin. After the adjustment period however, Crosby puts people like Kunitz on the Canadian Olympic team and gets people like Pascal Dupuis into big contracts.
