i don't think there's any deep hate. i think they just think he isn't good enough in international play.

Despite them not playing their best right now, Canada is the team to beat as the defending gold medalists. They have the deepest roster, and were the pre-tournament favorites.

I want the U.S. to play them. And beat them.

Imagine if some other team had eliminated the Soviets in 1980; winning the gold wouldn't have been as big a deal. You want to be regarded as legit? Take on the best and beat them.

It takes people a while to adjust playing on Crosby's wing. We've seen it here, newcomers adjust more easily to Malkin. After the adjustment period however, Crosby puts people like Kunitz on the Canadian Olympic team and gets people like Pascal Dupuis into big contracts.
