Ok, so my favorite album from last year might just be Once I Was An Eagle by Laura Marling. Holy crap.

Looking like an all-nighter for me tonight, so its audio adderall for the rest of the night. So good.

Wax Tailor and Caravan Palace are the best for nights like this.

This is one of my favorite songs, it was made famous by Nirvana on the unplugged album. Keep in mind that Mark Lanegan also did this song. Which one did yinz like more? I ask because I know some of you are very informed music fans.

And wtf...here is the Leadbelly version.

I like both other versions. The Nirvana unplugged version is so iconic for me, though. That was possibly my favorite song on NY Unplugged, which was one of those special childhood albums.

I must admit the pain and anguish in Kurts voice is very cool. The Lanegan version screams early 90s grunge. But back to Nirvanas unplugged album, wow....what a album.

Does anyone here like Phil Collins' solo material? I listened to a compilation CD. I knew a lot of those songs already, but by the time I was done, I just had enough. Music is so light and lacking melody and so (80's) poppy, I don't think I'll ever listen to the man again. It was really awful.

See, we do agree on something to do with music (or "music") after all.

Here's the full list of Austin City Limits broadcasts set for January and February:

January 4, 2014 | Queens of the Stone Age
January 11, 2014 | Jason Isbell/ Neko Case
January 18, 2014 | fun. / Dawes
January 25, 2014 | Portugal. The Man / Local Natives
February 1, 2014 | Sarah Jarosz / The Milk Carton Kids
February 8, 2014 | Kacey Musgraves / Dale Watson
Just a reminder for FC and others - ACL tonight has QOTSA.

ACL continues to be one of my favorite TV-watching hours, ever. I've been turned on to so much new music through the show. So much so that I have one of the original fake trees from the old ACL set in my family room. It's not much to look at from a decoration standpoint, but knowing it was on stage with so many great acts for so long, I dig it.

Done with my best of 2013 lists

Albums:
1 Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
2 Iceage - You're Nothing
3 Waxahatchee - Cerulean Salt
4 The Men - New Moon
5 Swearin - Surfing Strange
6 Wavves - Afraid of Heights
7 Diarrhea Planet - I'm Rich Beyond you're Wildest Dreams
8 Crash of Rhinos - Knots
9 The National - Trouble Will Find Me
10 Thermals - Desperate Ground

Tracks
1 Vampire Weekend - Don't Lie
2 Iceage - Ecstasy
3 Wavves - Demon to Lean On
4 King Krule - Easy Easy
5 The Men - Half Angel / Half Light
6 Title Fight - Be a Toy
7 Vampire Weekend - Hannah Hunt
8 Arcade Fire - Afterlife
9 These New Puritan - Fragment Two
10 Iceage - Your Nothing
11 Swearin - Watered Down
12 Crash of Rhinos - Opener
13 Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Despair
14 Waxahatchee - Misery over Dispute
15 Youth Lagoon - Mute
16 Foxygen - No Destruction
17 Swearin - Dust in the Gold Sack
18 Diarrhea Planet - Seperations
19 Surfer Blood - Say Yes to Me
20 The Range - Metal Swing
21 Waxahatchee - Swan Dive
22 Deerhunter - Sleepwalking
23 Jagwar Ma - The Throw
24 Merchandise - Total Nite
25 Thermals - Our Love Survives

I do like the Mikal Cronin, Kurt Vile and White Fence albums, but I think what it comes down to is, I still just like the same style of music that I liked back in college. It's not like anything on my list hasn't probably just been done over and over again, but if I sought out originality, I'd end up praising something like Death Grips...and I personally think it'd be weird to try and tell someone that he made the best record this year. I just really think the Vampire Weekend album was fantastic, and the rest of my favorite albums were just bands doing a narrow nitch really well.

Iceage confuses me, but I haven't spend too much time trying to figure out why.

They seem to me like a mesh of 80's american Hardcore Punk and the English Post-Punk stuff of that same time.
