really cool, thanks. I listened to the 7 part lost zappa interview on youtube today. That is one person I never get tired of listening too (both musically and socially). If you haven't already, check out his biography, it's very interesting

The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect is the only one I know without resorting to the googles. It has "Bang the Drum All Day".

Must have been a dispute over what order to play the same 4 chords over and over in.

Going to see AFI in philly tonight. Pretty psyched as the setlists so far have been pretty amazing, lots from Sing the Sorrow.

Don't know much about the opening band Touche Amore other than what I've found on youtube. Not impressed. I like giving bands a chance live but since my wife is going with me to this show I'm not so sure she'll dig having to listen to a band that might stink. Anyone have thoughts on Touche Amore and whether they're worth seeing?

How much Art of Drowing and Black Sails? (if there's nothing after Sing the Sorrow i'd consider going when they come to pgh)

From setlist.fm the songs they've played are:

11x
Ever and a Day
Leaving Song pt. II
Dancing Through Sunday
17 Crimes
Girls Not Grey
I Hope You Suffer
The Days of the Phoenix
God Called in Sick Today
Just Like Heaven
Love Like Winter
Silver and Cold

then in descending order of most to least played
Bleed Black -9
A Single Second -8
Wester -6
Kill Caustic -6
Overexposure -5
The Interview -4
Medicate -4
The Leaving Song -4
Totalimmortal -2
Veronica Sawyer Smokes -2
Beautiful Thieves -2

I can post a setlist and mini review after the show if interested

AFI put on a pretty great show if you're a fan. They played a couple songs for the first time this tour tonight and seem to be mixing and matching older and newer songs. I can post more after I get some sleep.

Touché Amore stinks!

Pearl Jam @ Consol last night was great. Excellent blend of a few new songs, a few deep-catalog songs for the diehards, and most of the big-hitter crowd singalong songs. On that topic, it was the second time in a couple weeks that I was proud to be part of a Pittsburgh crowd - after the Wildcard game vs. Reds, Pittsburgh (or wherever committed PJ fans came in from) represented itself VERY well. One of, if not the, best concert crowd to which I've been a part. My 10Club seats were better than I hopped - a few rows off the floor about 1/4 way back the floor - outstanding.

218 row a...a tool in a Pittsburgh Pirates Pearl Jam 20 jersey. Yep that was me....

Great show...this was my 4th time seeing them and i swear they get better with age. Maybe a few more new songs then i would like, and i could without 99% of the. "Radio hits" but ive been a spoiled fan since 1992. One day i hope for a no hits deep cut tour. But you cant hate a band that plays 31 songs a night. Great show and a great crowd.

On another note, I played bass with some friends of mine in a southern rock/blues/psychedelic band in Asheville this past weekend. This live recording came out quite well, if you're into jammier/guitar-heavy stuff:

Yeah, that's pretty damn good quality for what, playing in a bar? Solid jam -- I usually enjoy playing that stuff more than I do listening to it regularly, but it's definitely good music to hang out to.

Dean Wareham has released his first (!) solo album and Sufjan Stevens offers Miley Cyrus some grammar tips, which I don't find that hilarious, to be honest.

I've been on a major bluegrass kick lately. Major respect to the mandolin and banjo players out there.
