Who are you going to trust, outdated internet sources, or Troy Loney?

The Shins stopped being a hipster band in probably 2003.

I've been really digging the older Girls Against Boys records.
I imagine that some of them are now dads.

If a Hipster is all about individuality and what not, why do they all dress the same and listen to the same music? Sounds like a "group" of people to me.

I think you're confusing hipster with punk rock.

:thumb: I"m looking forward to it.

I recently read that PS re-released Steve McQueen after having Thomas Dolby re-master it.

I hear the Pet Shop Boys actually have a new album coming out, too.

Are we the only Prefab Sprout fans here?

You are quite possibly the only PS fan in your home state.

Yes, Steve McQueen was remastered and re-released, accompanied by new acoustic renditions of 8 of the songs by Paddy McAloon. That was in... oh, 2007.

And yes, the Pet Shop Boys released Electric in July. It is quite brilliant.

The Shins have a song called "Phantom Limb" which is about lesbianism. That's good enough for me, I could care less if they are a hipster band or not.

The whole album that song is on is loosely a concept album about a girl discovering she's a lesbian, if I'm not mistaken.

But they're a good band with a lot of solid songs. It's funny -- IMO, Garden State was partly responsible for getting them on the map, and also partly responsible for the negative stigma that some associate it with, i.e., "this song will change your life!"

I remember Girls vs Boys from the original Clerks. Had no idea they were still recording 20 years later.

A lifetime ago, I was lucky to hang with a bunch of people who were big PS fans. Every single party (and there were many) had some PS in the mix. "Cars and Girls" was usually held to the end when everyone was drunk and could give it that little extra something by shouting it. :D

Wow, 2007. I'm out of it, to say the least! What have I been doing? :o

Sirius XM New Wave is pushing the Pet Shop Boys album like mad. I'm certain I'm going to have to acquire it.

At first glance, I thought you guys were talking about Blur's Parklife, and it didn't compute.

I didn't know that was a concept album.

(Just in general) I like particular music because I like it not because it's cool to like it. Usually, if somebody says this is the coolest band ever or something along those lines it puts me off them. Sometimes I think it is a curse for a band to get the "this song will change your life" label.

I only have a handful of their songs in my iTunes but they showed up on my alerts the other day. Definitely surprised.
