Re: Let's talk about music
Skullman, I'm with you for the most part. I'm a metal fan, but you can't deny that Nickelback has a catchy groove for pretty much every song they've made. Ask yourself...why does Nickelback suck, in your eyes? If no one else had ever heard of them, I submit that people would like them. They're simply caught between acceptable and accessible. If you'd never heard of NIckelback, you'd say they're decent...that's my guarantee.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but anyone hear Hugh Laurie's new album? Awesome stuff.

Re: Let's talk about music
Be careful with that guarantee. People are easily led, but maybe people simply don't like Nickelback because there is not much to like about them.tjand72 wrote:Skullman, I'm with you for the most part. Too many songs to fit in the "Random Songs" thread, but I stumbled upon an AWB concert from 2000 from YouTube. Adam Deitch filling in on the drums.

Re: Let's talk about music
I still to need to sit down and come up with that list of indie-pop rock bands to listen to later. My apologies about completely spacing on it.
On another note, I played bass with some friends of mine in a southern rock/blues/psychedelic band in Asheville this past weekend. This live recording came out quite well, if you're into jammier/guitar-heavy stuff:

I came across an album called The Crane Wife by the Decemberists and they are pretty good. Anyone know anything about them or any of their other stuff?

Re: Let's talk about music
is this hipster music, because I'll destroy cds right now? I'm about 99% unfamiliar with music past 1992, but had heard a few of these songs and thought of them as more folky? I'm a little embarrassed now.viva la ben wrote:I didn't know you were a hipster.

Decemberists, Shins, Wilco etc isn't hipster music. That's 91.3 dad rock type stuff.

I consulted google and the consensus is that yes the shins are a hipster band. They also made a few top 20 worst hipster band lists.
