And you wonder why my mother said, "What's that tribal music coming from the basement?" all those years ago.

I'm probably about to make things worse, but it makes me realize that it's mainly the way they sing that puts me off.

I like Nirvana but never liked Perl Jam. Just a preference. I saw Hole play at one of the Lalapaloozas and thought they stunk. I just don't like her.

Re: Let's talk about music
Yeah, but they're equally... well, pretentious is the only word I can use to describe it. It's that same sort of pompousness that made Michael Stipe unbearable after he decided to become a big effing rock star.FreeCandy44 wrote:Each one is unique in his own way.Gaucho wrote:I'm probably about to make things worse, but it makes me realize that it's mainly the way they sing that puts me off.

Cornell is the only one with a rock star attitude in my opinion. Lanegan is hardly known and Vedder, well...you either like him or hate him.

I just remembered that Modest Mouse are from Seattle. So I guess that may be my favorite band from Seattle.

Dancehall and Bukowski are very good Modest Mouse songs.

Don't forget Tad if for no other reason than he covered one of the best Black Flag songs:

Pearl Jam sucks. I can admit they are talented, but to my ears musically they suck.
Nirvana Sucks... like worst band ever sucks. Kurt Cobain had zero talent.. zilch... .nada. Grohl went on to much bigger and better things. The bassist wasn't half bad either. Cobain was just awful though.

Re: Let's talk about music
I really liked Pearl Jam when ten came out and after that I didn't really listen to them until 2007. They are definitely talented but I kinda have to be in the mood to listen to them. For my money, Matt Cameron is an excellent drummer for both PJ and Soundgarden and both of PJ's guitarists can rip. "Animal" and "Do the Evolution" are vastly underrated.
Nirvana has quality songs and they are definitely a talented band. But they are massively overrated. I think a lot of that has to do with Cobain's death. So overplayed. I think people totally overreacted bc they became huge when MTV was at its peak and they were everywhere. And they pretty much single-handedly killed hair metal.

Cobain as god when he died. All the 14 year-old girls were crying.WDWBurghGooner wrote:I really liked Pearl Jam when ten came out and after that I didn't really listen to them until 2007. Re: Let's talk about music
I feel like you need to substantiate this claim. That's a really vague statement to make about a guy who was making power chord rock songs. Cobain was probably no master at the guitar, but they made some great songs. You just seem to be making a subjective statement and masking it as an objective claim.skullman80 wrote:Pearl Jam sucks.
