Why Buy out Vinny this year as opposed to next?
What if he went on a tear this year and they could have attempted to move him.

Thanks... Didn't realize this was his last year of his contract.mikey287 wrote:Q1: No. They can use their second compliance buyout next season though, if he's healthy and they don't use both this offseason. This doesn't apply to Heatley specifically, as he's a UFA after this season.
Q2: No. That would bring on a grievance from the Union I suspect.

I think there is a good rationale behind it. Take a year to see if AV can get offense out of him and if he can't, dump him next year.

Bang on. Note similarities between Richards and Henrik Sedin. Very good move by New York.canaan wrote:I think there is a good rationale behind it. Take a year to see if AV can get offense out of him and if he can't, dump him next year.
