Tim Thomas may attempt comeback
next season. He would have to report to the NY Islanders or head over to Europe.

The Isles have already said they are not tolling Thomas' contract and he will be UFA if I recall correctly.

Interesting, considering that the Isles are $12.4m below the salary floor.Fire0nice228 wrote:The Isles have already said they are not tolling Thomas' contract and he will be UFA if I recall correctly.

Don't call it a comeback.

Until they get a better goaltender and add more depth to their lineup there's nothing to really fear.ExPatriatePen wrote:FWIW, I fear the Isles next season.JS© wrote:Interesting, considering that the Isles are $12.4m below the salary floor.Fire0nice228 wrote:The Isles have already said they are not tolling Thomas' contract and he will be UFA if I recall correctly.

He said all along that he was planning to take a year off, not that he was retiring.

Wait until they add Fleury, Briere, and Brad Richards.

Re: Tim Thomas may attempt comeback
They're only $8.1-million below the $44-million floor next seasons. They've got to add 2-3 forwards, 1-2 defenseman, and 2 goalies... so they'll have no trouble reaching the floor.JS© wrote:Interesting, considering that the Isles are $12.4m below the salary floor.Fire0nice228 wrote:The Isles have already said they are not tolling Thomas' contract and he will be UFA if I recall correctly.

Too bad the league won't approve it due to the latest CBA contract length rules.

The Return of TIMMMMAYYYY!
Maybe not. A lot of the NHL teams have fairly strong goaltending, even the losing teams. Some teams have two #1 quality starters that they don't know what to do with and others have very promising prospects waiting in the wings for a chance to even get on the big club because the incumbent #1 ain't going anywhere. Think Thomas is looking at backup work at this point at the very best or maybe he gets a real shot in Calgary or Florida, but he's pretty old. don't lose with seniors as they say.
