The Isles have already said they are not tolling Thomas' contract and he will be UFA if I recall correctly.

Interesting, considering that the Isles are $12.4m below the salary floor.

Until they get a better goaltender and add more depth to their lineup there's nothing to really fear.

He said all along that he was planning to take a year off, not that he was retiring.

Wait until they add Fleury, Briere, and Brad Richards.

They're only $8.1-million below the $44-million floor next seasons. They've got to add 2-3 forwards, 1-2 defenseman, and 2 goalies... so they'll have no trouble reaching the floor.

Fixed.

Too bad the league won't approve it due to the latest CBA contract length rules.

The Return of TIMMMMAYYYY!

Maybe not. A lot of the NHL teams have fairly strong goaltending, even the losing teams. Some teams have two #1 quality starters that they don't know what to do with and others have very promising prospects waiting in the wings for a chance to even get on the big club because the incumbent #1 ain't going anywhere. Think Thomas is looking at backup work at this point at the very best or maybe he gets a real shot in Calgary or Florida, but he's pretty old. don't lose with seniors as they say.
