Why was Sansa crying at the end? I got kind of lost on that part

I enjoyed the episode, but may have been the weakest of the season. Coincidentally enough, it may also have been one of the biggest departures from the book. Though I wonder about the Arya-Melisandre interaction... when Melisandre says "we will meet again"... was that made up fr the show, or something Martin made them privy to?

Highlights of the episode for me:

- The Blackfish quote I mentioned earlier
- Climbing the wall (even if it had a bunch of extra drama added in for TV)
- Varys and Littlefinger reflecting on spoiling each others plans. Love when these 2 share the screen.
- Littlefinger's speech and subsequent tie-in back to climbing the wall

A quick question about Varys from last week:
Spoiler:
Is that the end of seeing his mutilator in the crate? Either way, that was pretty **** up.

No, I don't expect we'll hear about it again. I think that was just to add more weight to "The revenge you seek will be yours in time".

not sure how much of this is spoilery but to be safe:
Spoiler:
Tyrion is extremely ugly in the books and was really messed up in the attack in the siege where he lost almost half his face instead of a cool scar that Peter Dinklage, who isn't really at all ugly, has. Besides being a dwarf there is really nothing wrong with Tyrion in the show.

Spoiler:
Yeah reading through the books now, the show really bothers me, because he's supposed to be ugly and even before the battle his legs are supposed to be twisted and otherwise deformed. None of that in the show, he's just a dwarf. I guess they determined that it would make him more likeable more quickly this way though.

I have a question too...why were they climbing the wall? Why would some of the wildlings have climbed the wall many times in the past? Do they just like to look at the southern areas beyond the wall or do they carry out guerrila-style raids on the Night's Watch?

When they reach the top of the wall, they are supposed to attach ropes to send down to build ladders, so the rest of the Wildlings can climb up.

I may n ot be cut out for this show on a week-to-week basis. Feels like its crawling. My anger when I have to endure an episode without a Dani appearance is significant.

Was that Loris' ship leaving as she was crying or was it the ship that Littlefinger was supposed to have her sail away with him on?

His narrative was talking about opportunity lost and that's what made me think she was crying because she told him no, expecting to marry Loris (sp?) but now that she has to marry Tyrion, she regretted not going with Littlefinger.

That was my thought as well.

I actually feel that way when time is (to me) wasted on Daenerys.

I can see why she didn't want to leave the cave.

Wouldn't it be easier to just melt a hole in the wall? :slug:

I love watching a scene with either one of these gentlemen. Can't determine which one is more manipulative or evil

I think Varys is more manipulative and Littlefinger is more evil. :scared: I find Varys to be a much more interesting character.

Sansa spoilers.
Spoiler:
I wonder how they are going to handle Sansa leaving Kings landing. I don't know why they didn't just stick with the Dontos storyline like in the books. It was mysterious, and had a better payoff. They even had an actor to play Dontos in season 2.

Maybe they will have it in season 4, but if they did that, why not do that from the start? Maybe they didn't want to stick with it for 2-3 season?
