I go 9-1 in the regular season, first round of the playoffs I lose by one freaking category... this sucks.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I led the league in overall record (It took a total of weekly scores out of 12 categories), and playoffs were this week and last week.
Ended up squeaking out a 7-5 win because Bobrovsky brought the SV% score to .9335 to .9322, and because Datsyuk, Kane, and Lecavalier didn't score GWG (which I led 6-5).
In the championship now against the 2nd seed (who was really 4th out of the 4 playoff teams in terms of record, but won his division), but I'm curious to what the 1st tiebreaker would have been.

I finished first in both of my leagues in the regular season. Now I am gonna lose in both leagues in the playoffs this week. I'd like to punch Ray Whitney, Teddy Purcell, Dupuis and Byfuglieneenermnermner for destroying my fantasy teams this week.

Wasn't to happy that I lost by Malkin's average points per week in the playoffs this past week. I doubt I'll ever draft him again if I have the chance and I'll go with a safer bet.

Was the #1 overall and I got bounced in the semis this past week. Other guy (gal, actually) had Brian Elliot. Derp.count2infinity wrote:I go 9-1 in the regular season, first round of the playoffs I lose by one freaking category... this sucks.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
In the finals in all three leagues. Just one of those years where everything has worked out despite a lot of key injuries (my best team has been without Spezza all year, Kesler most of the year, Enstrom most of the year, others off and on). Traded Karlsson in a package for Ovechkin about 1 week before Karlsson went out for the year. Traded my right to a conditional 1st if Crosby scored 60 points about 1 week before the jaw injury. Won the president's trophy as well in both of the money leagues. In the third league (no money), I made the playoffs as the last seed only after a stat correction on the final week of the season.
Guaranteed $600 minimum, up to $1000 if all goes right this week.

Tough one. The Blues are hot right now, I wouldn't play a fringe NHLer against them personally...even if you figure it to be a low-scoring game. Montreal has to be angry about their level of play, right? They're at home, they're gonna wanna put on a show I think...Andy vs. the Caps might not be bad, even though they are a hot...

Points league so no specific category needs. I went with the more obvious choices -- Andy and Bishop. Nice night for Andy, blow with the late goal against Bishop, but, yeah, the way the Blues are shutting teams down (finally) and with Phoenix's difficulty scoring goals, no real way to justify Chad Johnson against that team.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Won one league. If the season ended today, I'd win both of my others. Alas, I have to get through four more days for that to happen.
Would you start Ben Bishop tonight vs. Toronto?
It is a points league. 2 points for win, 3 points for shutout. 0.08/save and -0.64 for goals against. Basically, he has to save 8 shots for each goal given up in order to break even. He would be starting over Danny Dekeyser, so the only real reason to sit him is if you think he will actually lose points. If it matters at all, my opponent has Phil Kessel and Mark Fraser. And if it matters, he also has Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos. The match up is basically neck and neck.
I am leaning towards playing Bishop over Dekeyser so that if St. Louis and Stamkos have big nights (hopefully) Bishop gets a win to negate some of that. Disaster would be like 6-5 loss with Kessel, St. Louis, and Stamkos all lighting it up -- something that doesn't seem all that impossible given these two teams.

Who are some sleepers this year?
Deep sleepers?
Guys you can buy low on at the draft?
Guys you won't touch at the draft given where you expect them to go?
Any specific players you want opinions on?

Sleepers: Boedker, Johansson, Galchenyuk, Schwartz, Kreider, PMB, Toffoli, Frolik, McDonagh, Kulikov, Fowler, Barrie, Vatanen, EJ, Rundblad/Stone, Larsson, Ramo
Deep Sleepers: Will add after LGP draft completes![Popcorn :pop:](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)
Buy low at draft: All the sleepers, Ryan Kesler, Clowe, Enstrom, Faulk, Horton, Marleau, Lecavalier, RNH, O'Reilly, Pavelec, Schneider, Lindback
Don't touch at draft: Kadri, Ladd, Fleischmann, Kadri, Stewart, Bernier, Miller, Hiller
What are thoughts on Bobrovsky? Another top 5 finish in him?

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
You think Kadri is just destined for the sophmore slump? Still seems right now to be the #1 offensive option on a team that typically puts the puck in the net a fair amount.
I think Columbus continues to trend upwards, and Bob along with them.

Goalie is the obvious weakness, but everything else looks really good.

Anyone starting another league or have room for one more? I'm in a rotisserie league with some people on here but would like to have a head-to-head one going as well.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
JS, how the heck did that happen in goal? In a 10-team league with a roster that seemed to punt on goaltending, I would expect the roster to be much more stacked. What's the scoring/league format, though?

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I really like that team. I can't imagine how you landed Tavares, Quick, and Luongo. Although I guess the breakdown of stats could be 9:4 skaters, which could explain how there was a delay on goalies going.
I love Ryan this year. Really high on him, especially in hit/ppp leagues. His PPPs are going to blow up, even if his overall production doesn't go crazy. I wasn't able to get him in any of my 3 leagues, but I think he's in for a big year.
You also were able to find guys who score more than they assist for your skater positions. Huge with that scoring format. To think that you got Neal in the 4th round in that format is insane.
I haven't ever played a FW league, but from what I understand, you'll want to have a couple more centers. I'd probably drop Bennett for the best faceoff winning center out there (within reason in terms of other production). I think with all the multiple position eligibility out there this year, you'll want to have at least two guys in your wing slots taking draws regularly.
