Re: Around the League: Transactions
I'd say the Rangers are buyers. They just traded an empty jersey for someone who can produce in their lineup. I think they could have made greater gains at that roster spot by keeping Gaborik and firing torts though.

I love it how the Rangers (who have trouble scoring goals) trade for a guy with zero goals in 28 games. That'll fix 'em.

I'm not sure how you can watch the Rangers play and not think that getting rid of Gaborik helps them. Tortorella wastes him.

Pricey acquisition, but Pominville is very consistent and an excellent two way player.

I love that Columbus now has a legit goaltender and have some skilled forwards and added Gaborik.
They deserve to have some suceess, be it regular season only or some post season.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Well, I agree to a point, but the organization has basically chosen Torts over Gaborik. Bottom line, it hurts their power play and Gaborik is a gamebreaker, and you don't trade those guys away if you have them. He scored 41 goals last season on a team that struggles to score goals.Idoit40fans wrote:I'm not sure how you can watch the Rangers play and not think that getting rid of Gaborik helps them. Makes Minny look a whole lot better. Was Cullen their #2 before? I like Cullen a lot, but Ew.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Yeah, I think they expected it to be Granlund. Pominville is a great, great fit in Minny. He just seems exactly like a Minnesota Wild player to me.
Interesting that Hackett was dealt. I wonder if Minnesota is going to announce a re-signing of Backstrom or whether they plan on going after Smith this offseason. Backstrom expires, Harding has MS, Keumper is not the answer.

Miller would look good there. Maybe he makes sense for them to target in the offseason. Can't have too many american stars.

This one was a surprise. Always thought that Pominville was untouchable. Would love to see him as a Pen someday. This trade will help the Wild a lot.

Re: Around the League: Transactions
Gotta love the Rangers. A team that simply can't score goals trades away their most gifted offensive player.
They are going to try to win games 1-0 every night. No offensive player is going to thrive under Torts. And the Rags just picked Torts over Gaborik.

Very expensive indeed. He's going to start off with Koivu and Parise. Should be fun.RxBandit66 wrote:bhaw wrote:Hackett and Larsson to the Sabres for Pominville
