You could easily get three seasons out of books 4 and 5. Actually, you could probably get 5 or 6 seasons out of 3-5 with some more thought to pacing. There are a few good natural breaks you could insert.
Looking at the episode titles for Season 3 they definitely split Storm of Swords in half which explains...
Spoiler:
why the Red Viper is not in Season 3 since it appears Joffrey survives and his wedding and the trial would in Season 4 and his work with the crossbow would be the finale of that season. No clue where they will end with Dany, I guess we start with her meeting up with Belwas and Barristan? But they ahven't been in any cast lists yet which makes me angry.
I was just thinking about how angry I would have been had I read these books as they came out and after waiting years for the resolutions to some of the storylines in Storm of Swords; Feast for Crows comes out. You would have been waiting the better part of a decade for some answers. I think I would have been too mad to continue.

I didn't wait and it took a lot for me to want to continue. I'm still half way through book 5 and I've had it since it came out.

Every time I see this thread get bumped to the top of the board, I open it up to see if Martin died and ruined millions of lives in the process. I guess this time I got distracted.

Broke down and ordered HBO. $10 a month means $2.50 per episode. iTunes sells them for $1.99 an episode I assume....I'll spend the extra $2 a month for access to all the HBO channels...
