Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
I made a league once that penalized PIMs way back I think...I think it was my very first fantasy hockey question when I was just a lad..."so, you get rewarded for your players doing something that negatively effects the team?" and since then, like you MRandall, I always finish dead last in PIMs, I don't think about it, I don't draft for it...it's my own stubborn nonsense that holds me down, but I'm not gonna sit there and draft scrub buckets just to hope for the odd chance they haul off and kill some fans...
I voted "blocks" into my one league that I was invited to...it helps add to defense value (I believe the top 100 shot blockers in the NHL are d-men, IIRC) and I have Dan Girardi already, so I might as well vote for it haha...can be a little arena bias with those RTSS stats, but there's bias with shots too, you just have to deal with it (or use it to your advantage...Rinne owners for instance...

Points leagues are the best, in my opinion. Never makes sense to me that winning a goals category is equal to winning a PIM or shot category. Thanks to Smallworld fantasy from back in the day, we've used a point system that has never failed.

Not to mention a game-winning goals category.Kraftster wrote:Points leagues are the best, in my opinion. I'd like to find a league that does head-to-head points, instead of categories.

How does that work? Winning goals category = 3 assists = 2 pim 1 for instance?Kraftster wrote:Points leagues are the best, in my opinion. No, I think he's saying that if your team scores more goals than the other guy in a head-to-head category scoring league, it has the same value as having more PIMs or shots.Fire0nice228 wrote:How does that work? Whereas, in a point league, goals would be worth (for the sake of argument) 5 points, while PIMS are only 1/2 a point, and shots are 1 point.

Nope, points just like fantasy football. We use a very slight modification of the old Smallwrold scoring system.

I thought Pacioretty was hurt (or someone on his line is, resulting in underachievement)?

He had emergency appendectomy last weekend. He's already skating with the team. Should be back within 2 weeks.MRandall25 wrote:I thought Pacioretty was hurt (or someone on his line is, resulting in underachievement)?

The VAN situation needs to resolve, and quickly. My goaltending is in shambles right now.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
was offered Brad Richards, Kunitz, and Bryz for Jagr, St. Louis, and Price
not sure about this one. i'd get richards and kunitz who are both young for two older guys. goalie situation is (IMO) almost a tie... slight advantage to price because he starts pretty much every game for them.

Bryz will start almost every game for the Flyers as Michael Leighton is really, really bad.

Re: Fantasy Hockey Forum
Safe to say drop Kassian instead of Yakupov now that Callahan is back? One-year league I'm in does count hits and PIMs, which makes Kassian a bit more attractive, since my other RWers are pretty soft (Gabby and Eberle), but I have enough grit elsewhere, plus Kassian's not on the 1st line anymore and I don't think he can sustain his hot start.

True. I like that group's bounce back potential a bit more however.Mongoose87 wrote:That's nothing, I have Lundqvist, Howard and Vokoun. None is my best.meecrofilm wrote:The VAN situation needs to resolve, and quickly. My goaltending is in shambles right now.
