My s2 skyrocket screen lock doesn't always work. I use the swipe pattern and at least 10% of the time it is not on the screen and I can just swipe to unlock

I'm in the thought that a 7" tablet at home could allow me to get rid of my smart phone and the monthly data plan. It would be a big adjustment, especially for gps and streaming sirius in the car, but I'd like to think I could handle the change.pittsoccer33 wrote:i dont get a 7" tablet. its not that much larger than my phone?
i feel like its too small to display full webpages the way my netbook does, but too large to make proper use of mobile sites.

That's definitely something I've thought of....have a tablet for very casual computing and a dumb phone.eddysnake wrote:I'm in the thought that a 7" tablet at home could allow me to get rid of my smart phone and the monthly data plan. It's great to waste time on the web in the grocery store line, but not really essential.

just pull down your notification bar and all the shortcuts/toggles are there. if you absolutely need a widget shortcut use an app like beautiful widgets or extended controls.CERV96 wrote:I lost my wifi toggle widget when I upgraded but found it in the widget section but now it has a ton of other things along with it like blue tooth etc.pittsoccer33 wrote:a coworker just got the Galaxy S3 and I the first thing I noticed was that they removed the Power Options Widget. what the heck? thats so useful.CERV96 wrote:ICS is not too bad any tricks to it?
i just don't understand how more people that own an android device don't have their phone rooted and/or running a custom rom. hell, at least root it so that you can get an app like adfree to block all the ads on the internet when you browse.

Re: How many of you own a droid?
if its a popular android device i've never seen any phone or tablet thats been harder than plugging your device into the computer and hitting a button with your mouse. its really super simple and there is a ton of benefit. plus, any and every device has easy instructions and usually a youtube video to walk you through anything.mac5155 wrote:I'm afraid to root. any android device that runs an AOSP rom will allow your device to perform much better than it currently does no doubt.

Re: How many of you own a droid?
So I flashed back to stock with ODIN since I messed something up with Kies.
Is rooting basically just downloading the .md5 file and loading it on to my phone?
and, if I don't like it, I can always just flash back to stock again, right?

What's this I hear about Verizon's Galaxy S3 having a locked bootlogger? What does this mean?
I'm stuck with Verizon and want the GS3, and may want to root it. Will this be an issue? Or are there people hard at work on this as we speak?![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: How many of you own a droid?
yeah the verizon bootloader is the only one locked on the gs3. basically as it is right now its difficult to root and load custom roms. developers are working some magic to open it up but its extremely difficult. i read thethread on the people working on it and my goodness is it intense. hooking up jtags and other electronic equipment, etc. id put money on them unlocking the device eventually.
anyways, biggest reason to root really is to stay up to date on the latest google operating systems. if you don't have a nexus device many are just now geting ice cream sandwich when jellybean just came out. on my rooted gs3 i loaded up jellybean tonight as the first row with JB an early beta came out today. JB is a HUUUGE upgrade in software for any android phone. can't believe how awesome it is and what a difference it make on even a beta rom. the updated voice search/google now absolutely destroys any other assistant/siri finally an assistant that is super fast and useful. also, this "project butter" that is included in jellybean makes android faster and smoother than ever, its definitely noticeable.

Practice not necessary. Just find instructions or a script and have at it. PM me if you'd like some help. It will change the way you use your phone completely.mac5155 wrote:Finally figured out my official upgrade to ICS. Im reading more and more into rooting. Its not looking like gibberish anymore. I had a trial and think it expired. I'm a fast typist and the other keyboards on stock are just way too slow for me
