Well, why set up the whole Robin and Barney stuff at the beginning of the season, only to abandon that for kumar, just to get rid of kumar a couple episodes later?

For a series that spent much of its life as continuity porn, it's kind of becoming apparent that it doesn't know where it's going, and are losing ideas how to stretch this premise out.

The chick who played Quinn on that episode is hot though.

Spoiler:
don't they usually announce the last season of a show like this well in advance? they'll have at least 2 seasons after this, right? so whatever happens in the next episode probably won't be very meaningful. since ted will end up with robin anyways, i guess they could start the official relationship now, but that doesn't seem likely.

and that stuff about robin being sterile is BS. they phrased it carefully by saying it's just really unlikely. ted and robin will have their own kids. my only question is, who are the kids he's talking to?

the simple answer would have been so that ted and barney could fight over robin, but now barney's in love with a stripper, so there won't be any tension there.

Usually the network will let it end, since there is an underlying story arc and it has been very popular. I think next season is the last one they have under contract. I hope they end it next season, as it seems they are running out of ideas and it's getting stale. But I can see them signing on for a 9th and final season.

Honestly the only show that was very popular and long running (ie. 6 plus seasons) that I watched that didn't get a proper ending and was just cancelled was Married with Children.

Don't ruin it for anyone...use spoiler tags...but...
Spoiler:
my guess is that Barney is going to get hurt by the stripper and finally decide to get serious with someone

Spoiler:
That's my guess too. He has fallen for her, and at the end, the stripper was basically saying she loves his money, apartment, and basically everything else a stripper loves, but doesn't want him.

However, I can see them possibly turning that into Barney getting hurt, the stripper actually changing her tune, and in the end, they fall in love. Who knows with this show though.

Speaking of long running TV shows, the Simpsons hits episode 500 this coming Sunday. That is absolutely amazing.

I've been watching this show since I was 11, a year older than Bart. Now, I'm only 5 years behind Homer.

To me, the golden years were seasons 3-9, and the show has dropped of dramatically IMO, but I still watch because that is pretty much what I've been doing for 23 years now.

Yeah, I should watch it more than I do. I remember when it first came on the air and my parents were all worried about me watching it and how it would influence me. Also, I remember how pumped up I used to get when they would play the Bartman video (perhaps on MTV)? Any clue on how they are doing with ratings?

After tons of recommendations, I started watching Breaking Bad last night. Watched the first 2 episodes of season 1. Seems like a good show. Are they still making new episodes?

I am going back on my theory that the kids aren't teds kids. That is just too wacky and implausible.

I see the series ending one of two ways.
-the last line of dialogue in the last episode will be a throw away line like, "oh, I met your mom in a bar" just pointing out how pointless ted's ramblings were. Kind of a meta joke.

-they totally rip off Definitely, Maybe, and the mother has already been introduced, but he changed everyone's names in his story.

does he say he met "his wife" or "your mother" at the wedding. there's a difference.

Another thing with the Simpsons. I remember in the early episodes, when they'd do flashbacks like 20-25 years into Homers teen years, they'd flash back to the late 60s/early 70s. And when they'd do Grandpa flashbacks, it was to like WWII era.

Now, if they go back 20-25 years, it would have to be in the late 80s/early 90s, and Grandpa is like in the 60s.

HIMYM:
Spoiler:
I do think the kids are real and are his. So when they talk about meeting their mother, I do think it's about meeting the woman he had them with.

I don't think it's Robin. They have mentioned Aunt Robin so many times, along with Aunt Lilly, Uncle Barney and Uncle Marshal, I don't think it's any of them.

And he has mentioned that he met their mother at Barney's wedding I believe, so it's not any of the major cast as well.

It will be interesting.

They just announced "House" is ending this season a few weeks ago and that's been on for a while...

HIMYM:
Spoiler:
With so few episodes elapsed since the Barney-Robin relapse, seems hard to think that something will come from the Ted-Robin cliffhanger.

I don't know. Did you read the link I posted. The producer/writer (whoever it was) said that this isn't going to be a cliff hanger that is just blown off, and it is going to take the show in a different/new direction and change the entire dynamic. He said the changes being made, he hopes the audiance will still follow and enjoy the show.

This intrigues me. I wonder what these changes will be. It should be interesting if he is telling the truth.

Should've just stuck with Jennifer Morrison. Broke up a marriage and then just bails on her. She is too hot to just bail on, at least get one more night in the sack. SMH.

I thought old Ted had always called her "Aunt Robin"...

Then again I haven't watched in a while (and don't plan on it), but I figured I'd ask since it sounds like they're going with Ted and Robin.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this entirely.

Spoiler:
He does call her aunt Robin. Could mean one of two things:

1) Ted and Robin get back together for a while, and then eventually break it off one more time. (I think this is the most likely). Then Ted finds his wife and they have kids.

or

2) Ted and Robin do stick together, and the kids he is talking to are not his, but maybe someone else they bring into the group as a best friend that ends up being their mother.

Do those kids ever call Bob Saget "dad" or is there mention of that?
