Re: TV Shows
Well, why set up the whole Robin and Barney stuff at the beginning of the season, only to abandon that for kumar, just to get rid of kumar a couple episodes later?
For a series that spent much of its life as continuity porn, it's kind of becoming apparent that it doesn't know where it's going, and are losing ideas how to stretch this premise out.

The chick who played Quinn on that episode is hot though.

Re: TV Shows
the simple answer would have been so that ted and barney could fight over robin, but now barney's in love with a stripper, so there won't be any tension there.Froggy wrote:Well, why set up the whole Robin and Barney stuff at the beginning of the season, only to abandon that for kumar, just to get rid of kumar a couple episodes later?

Re: TV Shows
Usually the network will let it end, since there is an underlying story arc and it has been very popular. I think next season is the last one they have under contract. I hope they end it next season, as it seems they are running out of ideas and it's getting stale. But I can see them signing on for a 9th and final season.shmenguin wrote:himym

Honestly the only show that was very popular and long running (ie. 6 plus seasons) that I watched that didn't get a proper ending and was just cancelled was Married with Children.

Speaking of long running TV shows, the Simpsons hits episode 500 this coming Sunday. That is absolutely amazing.
I've been watching this show since I was 11, a year older than Bart. Now, I'm only 5 years behind Homer.
To me, the golden years were seasons 3-9, and the show has dropped of dramatically IMO, but I still watch because that is pretty much what I've been doing for 23 years now.

Re: TV Shows
Yeah, I should watch it more than I do. I remember when it first came on the air and my parents were all worried about me watching it and how it would influence me. Also, I remember how pumped up I used to get when they would play the Bartman video (perhaps on MTV)? Any clue on how they are doing with ratings?newarenanow wrote:http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/12046/1210192-67.stm

Re: TV Shows
After tons of recommendations, I started watching Breaking Bad last night. Watched the first 2 episodes of season 1. Seems like a good show. Are they still making new episodes?

Re: TV Shows
I am going back on my theory that the kids aren't teds kids. That is just too wacky and implausible.
I see the series ending one of two ways.
-the last line of dialogue in the last episode will be a throw away line like, "oh, I met your mom in a bar" just pointing out how pointless ted's ramblings were. Kind of a meta joke.
-they totally rip off Definitely, Maybe, and the mother has already been introduced, but he changed everyone's names in his story.

Re: TV Shows
Another thing with the Simpsons. I remember in the early episodes, when they'd do flashbacks like 20-25 years into Homers teen years, they'd flash back to the late 60s/early 70s. And when they'd do Grandpa flashbacks, it was to like WWII era.
Now, if they go back 20-25 years, it would have to be in the late 80s/early 90s, and Grandpa is like in the 60s.
