Half the time I try to type something in slang or proper nouns, it tries to autocorrect and ends up making it worse. I'd rather have a few misspelled words every once in a while.
Looks to me like you can turn it off under language/keyboard settings if you're not using swype. I don't recall even getting the auto-correct stuff while using swype though. (it's the last option under multi-touch keyboard settings)
Thanks! I don't know how I missed that.

Swype is cool but I usually go horizontal screen when I type and I find Swype is better when you keep the screen vertical (keys are too far apart when horizontal). I think I might be the only person that prefers the multi-touch keyboard to Swype.

I'm not really digging swype tbh. might switch back.

Honestly, I have to say the strangest thing for me is the fact that I don't have to press the screen in. After 2 years with the Storm it is awkward to me.

Yeah, it's weird. Haptic feedback = :thumb: even though it drains the battery a bit faster.

I heart swype. I didn't think I would but after using it for a few days I am really liking it. I need to read back through the thread and see what apps you all recommended.

Another app. Google "Tunee" and download the app from their site. Any song you can think of and boom it's downloaded. Like napster used to be.

swype is a keyboard setting... on the x you can turn it on under language/keyboard in settings I believe.

After turning on USB debugging mode just for the hell of it, I can magically now connect my X to my desktop and transfer files. It's the first phone I've had where it actually works properly. Might also have had something to do with setting to USB Mass Storage Mode or whatever it's called... at any rate, it works... so yay!

All 3 of my verizon phones have connected to my work laptop without issue, but never would work right/at all with my desktop... forcing me to use the laptop as an intermediary for transferring my music and such on.

One thing that is bizzare is that my phone randomly set La Grange as the ringtone for certain notifications. No idea why/how... but at one point, it was playing both when I got a text and when I plugged my USB cable into a computer.

I fixed the texts and the USB connection no longer is playing La Grange, but now it's an annoying ring. Any idea how to turn that off (or is it not possible? :?)

i was in a music recording session last weekend, and using new software we did not have a metronome set up. (basically a time clicker to play along with to keep solid time with for those who dont know what one is)

so my buddy whips out his DROID and has a metronome on there, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I hook up a splitter and two headphones and the guitarist and me start laying down a long track. about 2 minutes in, we both hear a loud "DDDRRRROOOOOOIIIIIIIDDDDDD" robot voice of doom (we have the phone volume JACKED and amplified to hear the metrnome click very clearly)

I almost fell off my chair in astonishment and fright, followed instantly by laughter.

no physical keyboard (only touch screen) and the thing is monstrous. for those two reasons, when i get a droid, i'm going to the droid 2.

I have the storm now, and the droid is actually only a little bit bigger, so I'm not concerned about either lol.

I love my X, and the size of it isn't an issue.

First time I had a touch screen keyboard only. I actually like it.

This.

Physical keyboards are worthless. Let go. Touch is the future.

And Swype is the greatest phone innovation in a long time.

Good to hear, I've read a ton about the X and the only complaint is the battery, no problem, there are apps, and data kills for that. The original storm had the same issue and thankfully, I'll know what to do with the X.

My only point of reference for the battery is the Storm. Using that, its not very good. Mine would die just from pretty standard usage.

The X. Whereas with the Storm I could go a weekend and not plug it in if I was out and about, my X is usually near dead battery by 12:00/1:00 AM every day taking it off the charger around 7:00. A full day is no problem whatsoever, so its not like its a downside to the phone, just not what the Storm was.
