Official GDT: Pens @ Habs 10/14/24

Post by DelPen »

If McGroarty isn’t playing then send him down to play 16-20 minutes and on the PP.

Is St. Ivany hurt? If yes then ok, if it’s how he looks on this ice it might be the gigantic anchor he has to play with messing him
Up.

Shea-St.Ivany was an effective 3rd Defense Pair late last year, both familiar with each other and played a simple, solid style.

An abominable bust of a contact continues to get an awful player dressed who is a liability every night.

No chance in hell you're "playing the roster that gives you the best chance to win" when you consistently wheel out Ryan Graves' corpse on the 3rd pair. Give me a break.

I think holding the Habs to zero shots is a good idea.

Good thing he scratched Poolparty last game. Didn't need that speed.

Rust needs to “get to his game”. He’s looked like a shell of his former self since returning from injury.

Might as well get a couple more while you're completely dominating the hapless Habs.

That is a BIG, aggressive 3rd line! Keep it together! Let McG go down and get some seasoning.

Good pace by the Pens so far.Defense have been active but not reckless and the Offensive Zone entries have been sharp.

This has been the best period this team has played so far this year. Forget the score...90% of that period, the Penguins were playing as a unit. When in their own zone, they weren't looking to aimlessly chip the puck out of their zone and reset. They took their time, and skated or passed out of the zone with authority. They made every effort to retain the puck offensively and defensively.

That's Mike Sullivan's system working to a T. Unfortunately, we've rarely seen it be sustainable for more than a period here or there, sometimes weeks in between those periods.

Excellent point. I was just going to post that I hope they remember they can play like this for all 3 periods. It seems like we only get 1 period per game of this kind of play
