Trading Crosby

Post by yinzer69 »

If you would be getting a legit blue chip prospect and 2 1st round picks would trade Crosby?

Not worth it. There is no way to win a Crosby trade.

You start a rebuild by moving Guentzel, Rust, Smith, Rakell, Pettersen, Karlsson, (maybe) Letang, Malkin, etc.

Crosby goes nowhere.

What has Geno done that doesn’t afford him the same entitlement?

Still amazes me that Geno is treated like a second-class citizen to some Penguin fans. If you say Sid goes nowhere why would you not say the same about Geno?

He does to me. I just threw him in as a maybe to satisfy the hardliners. :)

Yep. agree. It’s terrible. He’s almost as good, brought the same three Cups and committed himself to this organization. Shameful

You don't trade Crosby or Malkin. Period. End of.

There were scenarios where resigning Geno wasn't in the cards. That would have been a different case, where he would've been too expensive. Instead he stuck around for cheap.

Maybe put Letang in a similar position, while we're at it.

Everyone else is fair game. Karlsson only if he wants to move on himself.

Imagine trading him to Anaheim to mentor their young stars! LOL Anaheim finally gets the draft pick they were robbed of so many years ago!

Must be a quiet Pens news day to discuss this topic. Sid is either retiring a Pen or leaving as a UFA on his own. We all hope and think that he will re-sign and play the remainder of his career here.

Maybe he wants to play several more years and get 2,000 points or something. He's not slowing down and doesn't appear to be anytime soon.

I can take the less popular side and say "sure, why not". I never understood why people got attached to players to the point they put the players above franchise success.

Not saying Crosby isn't producing, because he obviously is. Hell, he's on pace to crowbar himself into the MVP conversation, but it would be amazing to see what the roster and asset hull would look like if they traded all their top players, Crosby included.

Not that anyone listens to me around here :) but I've always been okay with them keeping all their pieces and riding it until the wheels fall off. I get what some of these guys have done for the city, and I'm fine with the 5-6 year (minimum, possibly more) rebuild they will go through once the ride is truly over. But I've never been opposed to taking a Steelers business approach and selling high on everyone, or at least as high as it will ever be.

Assuming they don't **** up the massive hull of picks and prospects they could land in trading Crosby, Malkin, Letang, etc, they could look like New Jersey or Colorado in 2 years, and find themselves in the upper echelon for the following 10 years as well.

Unpopular to be sure, but I'm personally fine with either approach..... :pop:

IN addition to my statement above, I'm sure the NHL would ensure we get the proper bingo ball in 2026 to take Gavin McKenna, since we always need the next superstar on the squad....

I'll be the yes vote.

Let's get this rebuild underway.

I agree that it's not a trade that you can win and it would suck to see him go - I'm just a pull the band-aid off fast kinda guy.

I'd say the "yes" choice is not very popular at the moment. Sid is on a pace to score 106 points this season. Granted he could cool off some, but can you imagine the outcry if they were to trade him now? Now maybe if they could get players like Kris Beech, Michal Sivek and Ross Lupaschuk, I'd be all in. LOL.

Why settle for players "like" Beech, Sivek, and Lupaschuk when the actual players should still be available? With each at only 42 years old, it would barely affect this rosters average age.

Edmonton. Because adding Crosby would certainly solve their goaltending woes.
