The player you begrudgingly respect

Post by Skatingpen »

Puck Daddy had this article below and I thought maybe it would be fun to ask you what player you respect even though you just don't like them.

Easy for me; OV. everything he does irks me. The way he celebrates, the dirty little way he hits, almost always leaving his feet, the constant discussion of his "passion" and even how he never gets hurt, barely misses any games. BUT I have to give him credit, he still finds a way to put up 50 goals a year, when everyone else has trouble scoring 30 now a days. I am not sure how he does it but his production is amazing year in and year out.

What player is it for you?

Ovechkin is finally in the respect column. He seems to have matured in the last few years. But maybe it's because Tom Wilson is such a bigger ***** I don't get angry at Ovechkin anymore?

Scott Hartnell. I have disliked him since he was with the Preds. But man, if he was on the Pens he'd be a fan favorite.

In the East - Subban
In the West - Toewes

Without a doubt the player I outright respect most in the league right now (not grudgingly) is Jamie Benn. I saw him fight Backes the other day. It was glorious. He is the new Brendan Shanahan for me. Does it all. I don't think he's as funny as Shanny though.

What I wouldn't give to see Tom Wilson in a Pens sweater. He checked some Lightning wannabe tough guy with a check the other evening. Lightning guy goes after Wilson and guy gets floored. Then you see him killing penalties for the Caps.

Hartnell and Ovie are both good choices. Hate them, but would love them on the Pens.
