Wow, I know Vokoun has this, but fortunately in his legs. Lungs is pretty dangerous.

They determined the cause:
All seriousness... He and Vokoun seem to be in similar circumstances... the decision to return seems to be more a risk decision than desire. Hope to see him back on the ice at some point.

Blood clots in the lungs just forced Cleveland Browns (and former Pitt) offensive lineman Jason Pinkston to retire at the age of 26. Best of luck to Timmonen. Dude has had a long, productive career and hopefully they are able to keep his health in check.

At his age, its probably time to retire. Never really had a problem with him on or off the ice, just his salary. But that was given to him by the Flyers, so it was relatively reasonable.

Wow, always sad to hear when stuff like that happens, especially when it happens to one of the only likable players on the Flyers. Met Kimmo once is Philly after a Pens-Flyers game and guy was all class, even as I was decked out in Pens gear.

Blood clots to the lungs = pulmonary embolism. He is very lucky, younger people with no medical history drop dead from pulmonary embolisms. If they are big enough, your lungs cant oxygenate your blood and you die from respiratory depression

Have to imagine its probably to announce his retirement. Can't think of another reason they'd have an actual presser. The #Flyers will hold a press conference today at 3:30pm at Flyers Skate Zone with GM Ron Hextall and Kimmo Timonen.
