White @ home?
Am watching the Preds @ Wild replay, and the Wild is wearing white. What's the rule about this? Thanks.

Teams can switch colors, the Maple Leafs do it more frequently than anyone else. I remember a couple years ago they asked the Pens to wear their home colors on the road.

So teams don't have to get a special dispensation from the Pope...or Gary Bettman.

Yeah, i'm not really sure. I just dont think its a hard rule dark-home, light-away.

Hard rule? No. But that's the suggestion. Ultimately, home team chooses. The Wild, I believe, are superstitious because of a winning streak and not changing the jerseys...I think it's them at least...Idoit40fans wrote:Yeah, i'm not really sure. I think the rule is the home team can choose and the away team has to bring a light and a dark jersey and adjust to what the home team decides to wear.

I wish they would require every team to have 2 colors that are completely different shades. Like the white/ gray in the mlb only always colors.

Trying to think, I can only think of one team that didn't have a white...those early Kings teams...can anyone come up with another...?Idoit40fans wrote:I wish they would require every team to have 2 colors that are completely different shades.

The Oakland Seals had a yellow home and green away from 1970 to 1974: http://www.nhluniforms.com/DefunctTeams/Seals.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;mikey287 wrote:Trying to think, I can only think of one team that didn't have a white...those early Kings teams...can anyone come up with another...?Idoit40fans wrote:I wish they would require every team to have 2 colors that are completely different shades.
Also the Canucks jerseys when they had the V were black away and yellow home from 1978 to 1985, then had yellow and black jerseys with the skating puck thing from 1985 to 1989: http://www.nhluniforms.com/Canucks/Canucks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I thought about the Seals, but just wasn't sure...to make up for it, they had white skates!
Good call on the Canucks, didn't think about them...

The Pens also did this in 1983-1984. Yellow home, black away: http://www.nhluniforms.com/Penguins/Penguins12.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: White @ home?
I agree. The team colors are like your flag. White is just boring generic. You should not give the visiting team the right to "fly their flag" at your building. They should be as generic as possible on the ice. You, on the other hand, should celebrate being home and wear your colors.mikey287 wrote:No thanks. I don't think the teams travel with both sets of unis routinely. I think it's upon a special request of the home team, with advance discussion and planning.count2infinity wrote:I think the rule is the home team can choose and the away team has to bring a light and a dark jersey and adjust to what the home team decides to wear.
