So, Erik Cole waives his NTC to go to Dallas. I guess he really hated it up there.

Sorry Kovy I just seen you posted about this in the transaction thread. I think the Canadiens are getting the better of the deal.

I hate Erik Cole...I'm not sure why Dallas would do this considering they have to deal with the extra years on Cole's contract...doesn't make a lot of sense to me, even if I factored in Cole not liking it in Montreal...a two-way noodle-scratcher AFAIK right now...

Dallas could have gotten something better for Ryder if they sold him as a rental at the deadline I would have guessed...sellin' high now I guess after his three apple Monday...

Wake up RS?

I guess we don't really have any middle class players available in return for a Ryder.

Definitely a head scratcher. Looks like Dallas wanted the stability of guy with extra years on his contract, while it seems like talk of the league is nobody wants term. Ryder > Cole in production and contract value, yet Dallas includes a draft pick...

? maybe Therrien knew Ryder from their previous stints in Montreal.

Bowser already tweeted pens should acquire Hossa... One of the players CP drafted and still is playing for the hawks; M Rozsival. Good for him.
I would take scuderi ! Can't we find out what Miro Satan is doing? 8-)

i know dallas has been losing $$$ recently, is this a cost certainty move to get a fixed top-6 winger in there?

Dallas, it seemed, signed all these veterans to short term deals because they have some many good prospects on the way, especially on the wing...I'm not sure why they want to add more years to the process...Cole brings a little more grit to the table than Ryder, but they had free grit waiting in the wings with Matt Fraser...plus, Cole has fake grit...his beard is probably fake too...

I would like this deal if I were a MTL fan. They have a roster that is rather weak and are winning a lot of games due to coaching/system, but they have lacked the firepower. Cole goes very hot and very cold rather frequently and he hasn't looked that interested in several games I have seen with the Habs.
The guy is sort of an enigma and while Ryder isn't the hardest competitor, I'd do that deal every day as a GM.

Ryder brings some talent to a roster that could certainly use it and I don't think they will have a problem re-upping him if they want to. Win Habs.

Ryder will probably thrive back in Montreal.

Not a bad deal for Dallas either, but I don't understand including the pick.

Bad deak for Dallas, imo. I really don't understand the trade. Maybe they are adding Cole in anticipation of getting rid of Morrow?

Agreed, Dallas throws in a 3rd round pick too.

This definitely means Morrow's career in Dallas is winding down...

That's my thought too. I've seen a couple Montreal games, and while they won both, it was clear they were winning due to their discipline and work ethic, not skill. It makes sense to add some skill to their forward group.

Eric Cole has had a bad start, but he certainly doesn't "blow".
