Ovechkin to RW

Caps are going to play OV on the right wing tonight vs. NJD. I can't think of a single reason why they would do this, as his shot is basically his sole outstanding attribute and he's almost guaranteed to have fewer good looks over there. I know they've started 0-3, but I can't imagine how this helps other than as some sort of 'wake up' type move on the part of Adam Oates. Thoughts?

He was working there in training camp for sure. This has been planned since the lockout ended.

And he can't claim rust, because he was playing in the KHL.

I hope Leonsis doesn't fire McPhee anytime soon.

By the way, the article i read has him moving back to lw after giving up on the rw experiment.

Yes. He had been at RW since the season began. I read he kept drifting over to the left on nearly every play. So, experiment over.
