Hollywood Wars - Post game wrap-up

Post by crayz »

First, big thanks to beerman & count2infinity. Excellent work on write-ups and ideas.

We had a lot of ideas we wanted to try, twists turns, and some new roles. I'll list out all of the roles first below then the nightly recap. Overall, I think it went well and it was a blast to read.

A few quick awards:

:thumb: : MWB - great job on training mac and staying under the radar. We were hoping this role would make the game new and exciting and it dead.

 Cup keeper - You had another offering to make...and if you only knew what that offering could have done for you!

:face: Zarovich - What WERE YOU THINKING??? Holy EPIC :face: :face: !! When you ousted yourself with little votes against you we all just stared at the screen in shock...emails went back and forth thinking the game just ended. Going forward, I think all games should have the Zarovich Award for epic :face: :)

and now, the rest of the story...

The roles:

*One note, due to a PM fail in the beginning, we did not use the sleeper role...

Celebrities:

Bodyguard: Can protect nightly, but not the same person consecutively
PR Man: Ability to investigate. If PR Man stays alive through night 3, on night 3 he can train the Assassin. The assassin's training will take all of Day 3 to complete.
Assassin: Can kill every other night and communicate openly with PR Man – Unassigned role until PR Man trains on night 3. The training takes all of day 3 to complete and the assassin may start killing on night 4.
Lawyer: Protects the celebrities from the Mafia by only allowing Godfathers to kill every other night. If the Lawyer is killed, the Godfathers can begin killing nightly.
Left-wing brother: Town member who is connected to his Right-wing brother in the Paparazzi (mason). If one dies, they both die.

Paparazzi:

Professional: Godfather of the Paparazzi, can kill once every other night while the Lawyer remains alive and when investigated will show up as Actor (Town). Has the ability to offer 2 spots to Actors and has one backup in case one denies.
Right-wing brother: Mafia member who is connected to his Left-wing brother in the town (mason). If one dies, they both die.
Tabloid Shooter: First Actor to accept the offer from the Professional becomes the Tabloid Shooter. The Tabloid shooter has the ability to investigate, kill, and protect one person throughout the game (JOAT). After using all 3 powers, the Tabloid Shooter dies.
Freelancer: Second actor to accept the offer from the Professional becomes the Freelancer. The Freelancer has the ability to investigate a member of the Hollywood each night. <Since no 2nd offer was made, there was no Freelancer>

Celebrity Stalkers:

Mark David Chapman: The Godfather of the stalkers can kill once every other night while the Lawyer remains alive and when investigated will show up as Actor (Hollywood).
Al-Qaeda Stalker: The Al-Qaeda Stalker is a bomb. Instead of killing the final voter, he kills the one who lights the fuse.
Robert John Bardo: The protector of the stalkers. Has the ability to protect one person each night, but not the same person on consecutive nights.
Boy Band Stalker: Just your average everyday 12 year old girl who stalks the latest and greatest boy band.

Other Member:

Sleeper: The fan begins as a regular actor of Hollywood. If the fan is investigated or killed by either the Paparazzi or Celebrity Stalkers, he joins their faction.

It was either kill you or recruit you.

I was trying to find the investigator before I used the final recruit. If I knew what the recruit became I would have used it earlier.

the whole point of zaro's role was to stay alive at all costs. with him dead the godfathers could kill on a nightly basis. he came out with his role with only a few votes on himself.

I wanted to try the two mafia set up in NHL wars, but having seen it the past two games (both of which were fun, dont get me wrong) I like the single mafia setup better.

Great job by the mods. I think how the roles were handled balanced things out. With two bad families it can be tough on the good guys so it was nice to have certain advantages like the ability to talk to the assassin.

Yeah, that's why we figured it was jays in the end. We thought if you were bad you would have thrown more votes out there.

I'm glad it didn't cost the village the game, when I read his post about the role I thought the village was done for. Although they probably still would've lost if they didn't luck out with cupkeeper taking himself out by killing shaf. Going from 3 bad guys to 1 over night won it for the village

I'm confused as to why everyone was so eager to kill the good RPs. I understand people didn't want to believe Malkamaniac, but I'm not sure why Zaro was killed. The village isn't very smart sometimes. I had slappy and shaf nailed since round 3 but no one wanted to listen

I feel the same ways sometimes.

If someone comes out early and says they are a role player, especially early, why would you want to kill them?

They are either the actual RP, which killing them is bad, or they are a mob member/ wolf or whatever. Which then you can keep track of.

Now, if it is the end of the game and you have to make a decision because it could end the game, then that is very, very tough. But not early on.

Which is why I came out with a vote early. I figured if I waited until I had all the votes on me and said that, it was bait and switch. So I said it early, after my name was said once. I knew more than likely I was dead. I just didn't want to be a wasted kill during the day. It would have been better to let me live that night and died, and got me out of the way. Regardless someone else would of died that night even with me alive/dead.
