Richards was the assistant for the Admirals. Guy knows a lot about Pivko.

Admirals announcers touted his skill during the finals a few years ago.DelPen wrote:Funny, I actually saw him play when I went to a Solar Bears game in 1996 in Orlando while on vacation.
He's a former Governors trophy winner, the IHL equivalent of the Norris.
Our own Phil Borque also shares the honor of winning that title. (1988')

Here is the article from the Pens homepage. Judging by this I don't think they could have found a better man for the job.

I couldn't believe his name came up! I have heard nothing but good things about this guy; who knew I'd be hearing the name again with the baby Pens!?NIN wrote:http://www.pittsburghpenguins.com/team/ ... 1968.0.php

This guy played with The Las Vegas Thunder in the 93-94 season & fans of the Wranglers here have often said that team was terrific & in particular, Richards was great both on & off the ice. The Thunder came in 1st (Wins 57 Losses 17 Ties 8 ) that season, but then lost in the conference finals.
They have an impressive alumni.

You'd think a city like Vegas wouldn't lose a hockey team due to lack of funds would you? The Thunder folded in 1999.

How sad is that? Especially when the Wranglers did so well afterwards with no exceptional talent. There's just no accounting for what's gonna happen with a team. That was the whole reasoning behind Vegas not being interested in getting an NHL team in (ie Pens). IF they got anything, it would be basketball but I doubt that too.Ron` wrote:Ginger I was there for one of the final games that season. They were playing the Aeros (Robert Dome). The place was almost empty.
