Re: Let's talk about music
What Sarcastic is listening to RIGHT NOW. BTW, great kids' music, Digi. Honestly, maybe they listen to pop because that's what they hear? Start them out on some metal and explain that if they sing some questionable lyrics, it's like a horror movie, they don't REALLY mean it. Can't have a death metal band sing about the sky being blue, right?

That's always so sad when someone gets sick like that. I don't have a problem with dying, just the way people die freaks me out. Anyway, very interesting band that I should listen to more.columbia wrote:Gong founder Daevid Allen has six months to live

listed as 5' 3" here and here, but neither of those sites seem very official.Froggy wrote:That's probably a bit generous, but yeah, he's tinyJS© wrote:Isn't he something like 5' 3" without the lifts?Froggy wrote:I would like to briefly add that back in October, I witnessed Danzig go through airport security, and watching him take off his boots with the 4" lifts was pretty hysterical. Google "Glenn Danzig height", it says 5' 4"

Reminds me a lot of Ray LaMontagne, but blacker (even though it's a white dude).

If not seeing the video, I would have never put that voice with that type of person. I don't mean that in a bad way, but yeah.

The new Dylan album is not very good at all. An album full of songs meant to be sung by singers who can actually sing - bad idea for Dylan at 30, terrible idea for Dylan at 70+.

Extreme's 'More Than Words': The Oral History of 1991's Iconic Ballad
It has always sort of bugged me that Extreme got pigeonholed as a hair metal band. Granted, their first album was mostly derivative schlock, and they were largely promoted as a hair band by A&M at the time. But starting with Pornograffitti and through to today, they have flown the flag as one of the funkiest, rockinest bands going.
And I officially feel old. 1991 was the year I graduated high school.

Been on a huge Blues Traveler kick recently. I'm not sure they wrote a bad song.

Re: Let's talk about music
I'm compiling a playlist on Spotify for "epic" songs. Free Bird, Stairway to Heaven, Come Sail Away, Foreplay/Long Time, etc.
What songs should be on this list?

Bolded already on list. Thanks for the rest. Billie Jean needs to be on there. Sweet Home? Yeah...it's epic, I just don't like it. Hey Jude should go on the list but Spotify doesn't have any Beatles.count2infinity wrote:Bohemien Rhapsody, Hotel California, Walk This way, Billie Jean, Sweet Home Alabama, Hey Jude, Don't Stop Believin, Satisfaction, Back in Black

And by the way, I'm talking about the Aerosmith/Run DMC version of Walk This Way. Not just the Aerosmith version.

That's a good idea. I don't like Aerosmith but that version is the cats ass.
