Well, some Athletes, obviously. Jagr has lived and played on three continents, in cities much larger and more famous globally than Pittsburgh. What makes you think he prefers a small working class city in the eastern US to any of those other places, or the Czech Republic where he's from?
I mean, he did say his heart was in Pittsburgh. I never believed he actually meant that but it's easy to see why he's offended people with his actions.

Pittsburgh is actually a pretty well known city in the world, due to WWII and its steel production.

The Flyers?! Really?!

It's one thing to be traded there, it's a whole other thing to CHOOSE them.

Anger doesn't even describe how I feel toward him.

Thanks for the memories Jags... Now, I hope you are destroyed.

This is quite the accomplishment. Nobody ever thought Jagr could do anything to make me hate him.

ANY other team, and I'd be sad, but I'd get over it.

Someone on hfboards said when Philly comes to Pittsburgh every time he touches the puck people should chant A_HOLE A_HOLE A_HOLE. I concur.

The more I think about this, I guess the more I'm pissed about it.

Honestly, if it wasn't such a big circus, and if he would have signed somewhere else outside of the division, I'd probably really wouldn't care.

But I got sucked in, got my hopes up, and then he signs with Philly. He is dead to me for the next 10 years. Then I will acknowledge him once again.

UGGGHHH.

Jagr probably won't even make it to the end of the season before heading back to the K so...no biggie.

It could turn ugly on Dec 29. The yinzers will be in rare form for the HBO cameras when JJ returns to PGH for his debut at the CEC.

Hmm.

Jagr signing at $3.3 M : Okay, despite his comment about playing for the minimum salary, I can hardly blame him for jumping for $1.3 M more than Pittsburgh's offer. That's a lot of money.
Would I want the Pens to sign Jagr for $3.3 M ? No. They'd have to give up at least two good players to fit that contract under the cap. Jagr at $2 M would work for the Pens. I'm not sure Jagr at $3.3 M will benefit any team except the ones who need to spend to the floor.
Jagr signing with Philadelphia : Well, now I have to despise him just because he's a Flyer. I guess his heart wasn't really in Pittsburgh.
Philadelphia spending $3.3 M on Jagr : Here's a silver lining for Pens fans. Predictions of Jagr's output have ranged from 20-something points all the way up to 80-something points. Philly would get good value from that contract if Jagr hits toward the upper end of that range, but not so much if he goes for something like 20-25-45 like I predicted the other day. There's a pretty good chance the Flyers will discover they have a problematic contract on their hands, although it's only for one year.

I've had enough of this guy on Puck Daddy Radio. It's a little more than turning down 1.3 mil.

Draftnik wrote:I don't understand why Pens fans took Jagr's comments so personally 10 years ago or why they take his actions so personally today.

I can understand Lemieux feeling like he was betrayed since they were allegedly friends, but there is no way this can end well for Jagr or the Flyers.

Jagr destroyed the Caps for a few seasons and if he stays around long enough he can destroy the Flyers 11/12 season as well.
