Morrissey: 'I Don't Know a Single Person Who Wants a Smiths Reunion'
He's right. It's 2014 and I imagine the fans that he has burned several times over by cancellations couldn't care less if a reunion happened.
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ ... z2uqdfMQft" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Morrissey once again dashed fans' hopes for a Smiths reunion in a new interview with Billboard, tossing off the idea with a cheeky, "I don't know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion!" But while the impossible dream may still be just that, Morrissey also spoke about his new album – which he's currently recording in France – upcoming North American tour with Tom Jones and Sir Cliff Richard and getting over the hump of a tumultuous 2013.

Are we allowed to talk about mainstream music here?
Enjoying Morning Phase, the new Beck album. Very Sea Change like, if you enjoyed that one from 2002.

Are you saying Beck is mainstream?
Well, I guess it is nowadays. Funny.

Re: Let's talk about music
yeah, I think talking backwards is excellent. Had to Hear and Crime are solid and the rest hasn't really stood out to me.
2014 albums i've been screening.
Against Me - Transgender Dysphoria Blues. It was hard for me to get beyond the gimicky nature of this album. But it's really listenable, they kind of fell of the map for me about 5 years ago. I still like the band as a whole and will keep listening to new stuff they put out.
Angel Olsen - Burn your Fire. To me, it's like Sharon Van Etten but a little better.
Black Lips - Underneath the Rainbow. I like their take on garage psycadelic rock that they've been doing since they cleaned up the production. Make You Mine is going to be on alot of playlists for me going forward.
Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else. While I'm Not Part of Me is by far my favorite track on the album. My initial reaction was that it was just too heavy, but after the second time through something clicked for me and i've listened to it maybe 5 times through so far this week.
Still need to go through the Beck and Malkmus albums a few more times to develop an opinion.

Angel Olsen is pretty good. I didn't get to check out the new St. Vincent and Malkmus albums yet, but I love the Sun Kil Moon album. And the Wild Beasts album is solid, too.

That reminds me, i'll give that St Vincent album a listen today.

I enjoyed the new St. Vincent album. I am planning on going to that show (Stage AE).
I thought tracks 4,5,8,9,11 were notable.

Re: Let's talk about music
Gotta give it a few more listens. Sea Change is one of my all time favorites. My initial impressions on the comparisons are that the melody seems to stand out a bit more on Sea Change for whatever reason. I feel like it's getting bogged down from time to time in Morning Phase. Maybe it's the vocals. I think they were a bit lighter and cut through a little more on Sea Change, which serves that type of music better. Still, I like it, and it'll probably grow on me more over time.Digitalgypsy66 wrote:Are we allowed to talk about mainstream music here?

if anyone happens to need BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN tickets for the show in Pittsburgh I'll sell mine at my costs face + ticketmaster fees which amounts to a ridiculous $144.50 per ticket in the 2nd level. just PM me if you or anyone you know may want them.

Ill make it a 3/3 post here. Taylor Hawkins from Da Fighters of Foo has a new project called The Birds of Satan. To me...its a poor mans Eagles of Death Metal.

Re: Let's talk about music
I want to believe this happened, but I can't find anything on the google.
http://letsgotickles.blogspot.com/2007_ ... chive.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So I had a chance to speak with my good friend Ken Hitchcock the other day. I'm glad to see him working again, but I must admit that I was hoping that he wouldn't get a new job until after the holidays. You see, Ken, new Blues coach Andy Murray and Ray Ferraro have a Motorhead tribute band called "Ice of Spades" that I was really hoping to see do a New Year's Eve show. They pretty much only play during the off-season, but for a while Ken and Andy weren't doing anything, and Ray would drop his Oilers color commentator gig in a heartbeat just to put on the wig and get behind the drum kit. But then Andy got hired by the Blues, and Kenny got picked up by the Blue Jackets, and I was back to sitting at home watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve all by myself. But if you ever get the chance, be sure to check out Ice Of Spades. They totally rock. For my money, Kenny does the best Lemmy around. He even wears prosthetic moles and everything.

Mick Jones of Foreignor and Leslie West were just on VH1C. Samples from Billy Squire and Mountain are #1 and #2 in sampled music in Hip Hop songs accordimg.
