RFAs named Ryan are real stinkers.
First Malone went to arbitration
Then ROR had a tantrum and is having another.
Now this Ryan is too big for his britches

He's not inaccurate though. I'd rather pay through the teeth on a face of the franchise, 30goals already under his young belt, skys the limit potential than Brandon frickin Dubinsky

They have 21 players signed and $15 million in cap space. I don't know what their budget is, but its not an either/or proposition.

Yep, it is this. He wants an 8 year deal, the Jackets want to do a bridge type deal (2-3 years) then do the 8 year deal.MRandall25 wrote:I've heard the disagreement is more term than money. He wants long years, but CBJ isn't willing to budge on more than like a 3 year deal.

I'm torn on this situation. I usually want to see a bridge deal for a team friendly dollar amount, but Johansen is a freak.

Trillionaire Ted is disappointed with the fans and media for being honest not being happy about the Orpik signing.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
In truth, Orpik will likely retire before the deal runs out. So the term is a little misleading. It's still overpayment, but Orpik, Niskanen, and Trotz all represent the kind of character improvement that Washington has been lacking forever. If that kind of deal is what it takes to change the culture of the organization, than ultimately it will be worth it. But that's a big if.

Doubt he'll retire. It's not a front loaded deal. Lots of incentive for him to be stinking it up when he's 39.

Boston and Bartkowski settle on a 1 year, $1.25M deal.

Johansen just reminds me so much of Geno in a way. Love 'em.mikey287 wrote:Agree.meow wrote:I'm torn on this situation. I usually want to see a bridge deal for a team friendly dollar amount, but Johansen is a freak.

Getzlaf for me. But move the slider more to finish than to dish. But yeah, he's a total stud.

His skating and puck-handling style remind me a bit of Jordan Staal. Similar physical builds as well, but Johansen has slightly better hands, IMO.

Brenden Morrow signed for the Bolts for 1 year at $1.55 million. I might have liked to see him on the Pens for that contract, even though he's faded a bit in the year since he played here.

Kind of surprised someone took a chance on Ribeiro. But with the pinch the Preds are in, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Derek Roy went there as well. Three offense-only centers added by them now...maybe move Jokinen to wing, as he's the least of the playmakers in that group. Well, they are trying to inject a lot of skill into their group in one offseason. Really trying to get away from 15 straight years of No Neck Hockey...

It'll be quite a culture shock for many Preds fans. Ribeiro @ $1.05M could be a steal feeding pucks to Neal.mikey287 wrote:Derek Roy went there as well. It's a pretty decent dollar store purchase for the Preds.

Yup. If the Pens weren't so loaded down the middle, I'd have loved to get either guy at those prices.columbia wrote:It's a pretty decent dollar store purchase for the Preds.

Too, though, bad apples are priced to sell. That said, that's a good amount of skill per dollar.

Isles place Kirill Kabanov on unconditional waivers to buyout his contract.
His replacement was already selected late in the first round just a couple weeks ago.
