Gleason returns to the Hurricanes for 1.2mil/1yr. Carolina is always willing to welcome you back
and apparently it wasn't just a Rutherford thing.
That's a really good deal for them. Gleason has slowed down some but 1.2mil is peanuts.

THese are LOL. Headcase Grabovski gets 5mil/yr for 4 years? He's a slightly above-average NHLer that barely is top-6 and comes with a lot of baggage. Kulemin hasn't done a damn thing in 4yrs, regardless of how much Malkin likes him.canaan wrote:@DarrenDreger: RT @StapeNewsday: Kulemin gets $16.75 million over 4 years, Grabovski gets $20 million over 4 years from #Isles.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
What happened to Dany Heatly? Honestly, he is "only" 33. He does not play a big physical game so it cant be that he is just broken down. He had 2 50 goal seasons plus 3 (basically) 40 goal seasons... and now he is kaput? Did the shoulder injury basically spell his doom?

He's broken down. He was never a good skater and he's only gotten worse. Injuries have played a role and his body has worn out. He hasn't been effective in a little bit now.

Don't get the Volchenkov thing, the wheels have fallen off him for the last couple years now. Surprised he got an NHL deal.

I wonder if they'd trade him for Scuderi.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Heatley is waiting for the midpoint of the season to sign with the **** all-star team.
Bad jokes aside, I know that he's broken down, slow and basically skating on one leg, but I'm still surprised somebody hasn't thrown a 1 year, $1m deal at him.

Cory Schneider long term w/NJ...hearing 7 yrs x $6 mil. Sounds like it's getting done now...

I'm a big Schneider fan, but $6 mil for any goalie is a bit pricey.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Do you think NHL goalies are going to go the way of NFL running backs? It seems that their value is more or less identical.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Pretty good foundation for a point. Teams are also much more reluctant to rely on one for 90% of the minutes. How many workhorse RBs are in the league? How many 70-72+ game goalies do we see any more?Idoit40fans wrote:Do you think NHL goalies are going to go the way of NFL running backs? It seems that their value is more or less identical.

Re: Non-Penguins Offseason Moves 2014
Holy crap. Only 3 people started 64 last season. Fleury, Niemi, Lehtonen. Contrary to his rep, Lehtonen played in more games than any other goalie this past season with 65.
