Re: Yakupov imitates Theo Fleury celebration
I don't even care that the goal was against the Kings. Yakupov isn't doing it to be arrogant. That dude goes 100 miles an hour at all teams it seems.

Uptight Canadians being uptight. If it had happen in Phoenix, with a non-Canadian team, we wouldn't be talking about it.

Re: Yakupov imitates Theo Fleury celebration
He was excited to tie a game in the dying seconds. Cool move.
FWIW, here's Bill Guerin's tying goal with .4 seconds left. It looks like he does a swan dive, though he may have just tripped because he was a statue at that point.

Actually, now that I think about it, I could understand why Edmonton fans might be ticked that Yakupov ripped off a move of a Calgary player. But why should anyone else care?

A good point was brought up a on NHL network radio on the way home. People used to always accuse the soviets of being emotionless machines, now they are showing personality and getting criticized.

We wouldn't want anyone to enjoy sports, so this must be condemned.

Personally I loved it but reading people tweet best celebration for a game 3 goal ever was quite humorous.

That was awesome. Come on, tying it with 1.7 seconds left against the cup champs? That's great.

Re: Yakupov imitates Theo Fleury celebration
It was actually 4.7
1.7 I could see celebrating like that. But almost 5 solid seconds? Arrogant Solviet

Re: Yakupov imitates Theo Fleury celebration
We came back in plenty of games last year but whatever.
Anyways I have no problem with how Yakupov celebrated that goal. I'm the type of fan who thinks athletes should act like they been there, but when your a player who scores the game tying goal with less than five seconds left in the game againist the defending champs, it warrants an over the top celebration like that.

Not that this is anything shocking, but Don Cherry didn't like how Yakupov celebrated the goal
