Three-way tie for first in the NCHC between UND, Miami, and Omaha. M-Duluth sits 3 points behind those teams.

John Buccigross said this morning on Sportscenter that he's coming to Happy Valley for the weekend to commentate on Saturday's game for ESPNU. Too bad I'm going to Friday's game instead. I'll keep an eye out for him though. Should be one hell of a weekend for College Hockey.

Buccigross was way taller in person than I expected when I met him and Melrose.

That sounds likes someone the Pens should consider. :fist:

Melrose looked like a heavy dude. He could be a wrecking ball in the corners. #Winger4Sid

This Minnesota vs. Penn State game is really, really good. Especially the 3rd period.

You knew MIN was gonna score in the last minute--so much pressure. Great job by PSU to get the W in OT.

Big W for psu. Definitely needed that after dropping 3 straight.

1-5 in their last 6 games... very disappointing run. Pretty much eliminates their chances of making the tourney unless they win the B1G tourney.

Tight at the top of the B1G standings...

MSU: 34 points
Mich: 33 points
Minn: 33 points
PSU: 31 points

Should be a fun final weekend as Mich and MSU play 2 and Minn hosts PSU for 2 games. Not that it really matters as I'd be surprised if the B1G got an at large bid in the NCAA tourney unless Michigan and Minn both sweep this weekend and have a decent showing in the B1G tourney. I'd be willing to bet that the winner of the B1G tourney is the only representative in the NCAA final 16.

Apparently the longest game in D1 history was played last night between UMass and ND... http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story ... ockey-game" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Big 10 hockey tournament:

Should be exciting... anyone could win this (even Wisconsin).

PSU awards:

Big 10 coach of the year - Guy Gadowsky
All Big 10 first team - Casey Bailey
All Big 10 freshman team - Scott Conway (who is from England, surprisingly enough)

Tough end of the season for the Nittany Lions... 3 guys so far injured this game. They have 5 minutes left, down by two. They've come back numerous times in games this season, but with a short bench, I don't look to see them come back. Great season though. What a turn around from last year and hopefully setting them up for a good future.

I'm interested to see how Bailey can transition to the pro game. No way he comes back to PSU next season. He has some interesting upside, but he also has some limitations that could keep him out of the National League. You can't coach goal scoring, however, which is what he does best.

Definitely will be sad to see him go if he should choose that route which he likely will. We've got some good younger players though, lead by Scott Conway.

Btw: hoping Michigan beats Minnesota in the B1G championship... might get two teams into the NCAA championship that way.

I'm at Blue Cross Arena for the Atlantic Championships. Mercyhurst leads RMU 2-1 after one. RMU scored on a power play.
